So last night my best friends and I had a late birthday dinner at Misato in Metrowalk, Ortigas. I loved the food! Sobrang sulit at nakakabusog. I didn't even order rice, and I wasn't even halfway done with the bean sprouts-half of the dish (I ordered a teriyaki, and I always save the best part of the viand for last) when I felt full. And because I was having a birthday celebration, I got a free ice cream! Hehehe kababawan. Our table was the noisiest in there; we were taking pictures of each other and swapping stories about our jobs/school, significant others/prospects, reminiscing our high school days, and cracking jokes.
Highlights of the night: (There were a lot of other funny things that were said, but they were private jokes. So ito na lang.)
There was this one waiter standing by our table the whole time, who was staring at my friends.
Me: *nudging Gladys, who was sitting next to me* (whispering) Kanina pa nakatayo yang waiter na yan ah. Tumitingin yata kina Rach.
Gladys: Oo nga eh. Teka. (to the waiter, loudly) Uy! Birthday niya!
(Silence)
Me: SO?!?!
(Waiter leaves to get ice cream. Or maybe he let the other waiters get it for him, because he never came back.)
As soon as we got out of Misato, two guys approached our group.
Guy 1: Excuse me, hi. Pwede bang magpakilala?
Me: Er...(looking at my friends)
Guy 1: Gusto lang namin makipagkaibigan.
Rach: Uy, birthday niya! (tapping me on the shoulder)
Guy 1: Talaga? (to me) Happy Birthday! (offers his hand) I'm Brian.
Me: Thanks. Janine.
Guy 2: Pare, ako naman, ipakilala mo ako.
Brian: Janine, Miles.
Miles. Hi. (turns his attention to Marie, who was talking to Rach) Sandara!
Me: (thinking) WTF?
Me: (to Miles) Uy, wag.
Miles: Sandara! Sandara! Ikaw ba yan?
Me: (thinking) Hahaha, patay ka.
Marie: Get a life.
Miles: (to Brian) Pare, ayaw yata makipagkaibigan eh.
Brian: (to me) Sorry, ayaw niyo ba?
Me: (shrugging) Sorry.
Even though I had a really great time with my best friends, I unfortunately had a bad day, pre-dinner. First of all, let me explain that I had a mild case of PMS, so if this seems shallow...well, it isn't really. Anyway, earlier that day, I was texting all of them to please not be late because I still have curfew (yes, I know....).
- The driver informed me that the car's tube where the freon passes through was damaged. In short, no aircon!
- Then, I had an argument with my dad.
- The usual 30-minute drive (1-hour drive with traffic) turned into a 3-hour drive. Exag! The usual shortcuts we took were both blocked, and we were stuck in Taytay for 2 and a half hours. Bear in mind that we had no aircon. If my mom hadn't left her water bottle in the car, I would have been dehydrated.
- All the while I was frantically texting my friends that I was going to be very very late. I was so embarrassed, because I've been telling them all week not to be late, and that as soon as we get out of the traffic jam, we'd start speeding. I hated the feeling knowing that they were waiting for me.
- We were almost out of the jam, and just when we were preparing to go faster, it started raining heavily. Nightmare!
When we got to Julio Vargas, I sent the driver to buy C2, and then my dad and I swapped cars. Finally! Thankfully, I didn't smell bad after the drive. My friends were also pretty nice about the whole thing, despite me being two hours late. Aw, I love my best friends. I'd post a cute picture of us kaya lang, hindi ako ang may ari ng camera. Hahaha.
