In time, everyone learns to love tapioca balls in their milk tea. )
But mm-MMM, yes, that stuff is GOOD. xD I especially like ordering it with soursop. Or just plain red tea. The real good ones are where the pearls actually absorb the flavor of the drink with them and WOW.
Okay you know what. You just made me start craving some again. I think I'll go take a walk out later and get some for meself. Muahaha.
I'm not sure if Jake actually speaks Chinese, but I *have* heard Grandpa use Cantonese. That's not my dialect - I'm half hainanese, half hokkien - but it's not like I have very good command of my own ones anyway. Let alone Chinese itself. :P They call us Singaporean born Chinese "bananas" - we only LOOK chinese with the yellow/ pale skin, but inside, all you'll find is English. xP Blame it on the heavy influence of the media and the emphasis our country places on English as a communication medium between the many races here.
OKAY, I've realized my tendency to rant in every post you put up. Back to the fic - I liked this one too. Excellent descriptions everywhere, and I love the fact that you write in present tense. xP Gives it a more original touch. Or, shall we say, flavor.
[point to note, I'm still drooling here.]

Oh good! You can be my Cantonese translator (notice how I didn't ask). I would assume Jake would know some Canto, because he obviously understands when Grandpa is screaming at him. Hehe, Canto is such a great yelling language. XD
Present tense is love. It's my favorite way to write one-shots because the style feels very commanding and indignant of the fact that THIS IS A ONE SHOT AND NOTHING ELSE SO STOP ASKING FOR A SEQUAL. Ahem. I've been spending too much time on ff.net. *cries*
Thanks for reviewing, glad you enjoyed! XD *adds to friends list*

And you're welcome.
RE canto, I don't speak it myself, but if you manage to bag what on earth G screams at Jake in the show, you could notify me and i'll ask my canto friends. xP There's actually a line between understanding dialects and speaking them - I understand my own grandparents when they speak hainanese most of the time, but I am sadly unable to speak it myself. Oh well. I presume your take on Jake is sound enough though. :D
I'll go add ya back. ;)
