I may as well come out and bite the bullet here.
crapige is spreading the word, so it's not like it's a secret or anything.
People magazine is doing a story on DXM abuse. They got in contact with a couple of people from the LJ DXM community for their side of the story, to get an answer not just on "OMG CORO TARDS ARE STEALING PILLS AND DYING," but to get an idea of... "Well, WHY are kids doing this drug?"
And not one but two people gave this reporter my name and phone number, saying, "HEY ASSHOLE! This is the mythical 'RESPONSIBLE DRUG USER' that never GETS any media coverage, because he's smart enough NOT to fuck up! We'd like to get his story some face time for a change!"
So I bit the bullet and spoke to him. He's going to do a story one way or another. I want to at least show that someone can use it responsibly without coming from a broken home, without being an escapist, using it for psychological exploration and artistic inspiration.
I gave him some metaphors with the great artists who have used inebriation in many factors to loosen the bonds of the mind, the philosophers of the sixties with the psychoactives movement of Leary and McKenna... Also how all the people I've met in this community have been very intelligent, curious, explorative, responsible individuals.
I wanted to give him the kind of story that slips through the fucking cracks EVERY time, because the intelligent kids are the ones who DON'T fuck up, so they DON'T get the media coverage. I want to give a thank-you to the two people here who did give him my name and number so that we could at least have a well-phrased success story on responsible use, rather than insane abuse.
I just hope this doesn't come back and bite me on the ass.
