RTD called Rose "wonderfully selfish", and Billie Piper also has said words to that effect. It's her biggest flaw, really, and it's on full display here.
"I thought you called me home just to call me home." Still stringing the poor boy along, I see. (Though I suppose she could be joking.)
More forgivable/understandable is her jealousy toward Sarah Jane. Rose has always tended to be a bit petty whenever the Doctor paid attention to other female characters, and that's been amusing, but in this case it's a much bigger issue for her because she can see that Sarah Jane is actually someone who was once significant to him -- perhaps just as significant as Rose is now, or worse, *more* significant. It's like a slap in the face for her. More than that, it's a wake-up call, that this could end someday. That might tend to make anyone a bit snappish.
Mickey, BTW, gets his turn to be insensitive with his needling Rose about the Doctor being "just like any other bloke", as in going from woman to woman. He does it again in the next episode.
But anyway, the fact that Rose is able to eventually bond with Sarah Jane (over laughing at the Doctor's foibles) is a nice step in her growth. She steps back at the end of the episode, though, when she gets all pouty about Mickey joining the crew.
(Argh, I love this episode and would like to discuss more, but I'm going to have to come back to it later, as I have a wedding-vow-renewal to go to this morning...)
