Yesterday, I had my evaluation for my cardiology position. It turned out really good, my boss and my supervisor said really great things and even said I exceeded the requirments. So I was super and then she says we are in a bind, we would like to reward you but the HR department said that they started me (salary-wise) too high so I won't be able to get a raise until later. I couldn't believe that the HR department even asked if they wanted my boss to "go backwards" like I would have to owe! Well of course, my boss declined and just stated that we would keep it as is. So I am bummed that I wasn't able to get one, but the original starting base salary would have been too low for me, and I wouldn't have taken this position. So I guess there is a reason why the company accidentally started me so high. Because if I have to think about the "good things" I would think that if this didn't happen I would have turned down the position and still be working at my old job which I hated and dreaded to go to every morning. So this could be a good thing and if I have to wait until HR clears me for my raise than ... it's ok I guess...(trying to be optimistic here).
