So yeah, first thing on Saturday morning at the Oklahoma Ren Fest I discovered that my poor bodice, after almost 3 years of faithful service (that included being drenched in whipped cream on a regular basis) had some of its boning popping out through the material. Oh well, I needed to get a new bodice anyway, the old one was too big 5 lbs ago. Towards the end of the day I purchased a new one, it's fantastic, hope I can get a picture up some time. Oh, speaking of pictures, thanks to
purpledumbass for my brand new lj userpic of me, in Rennie dress. It's one of the few photos of me in existence where I'm not crossing my eyes or sticking out my terrifyingly huge tongue.
I had a lot of fun both days of the Festival, saw old friends, made some new ones, and our group had appreciative crowds for all of our shows, even with the small attendance. And of course, it was the World Premier of our new Shakespeare spoof for the Scottish Play. I hope all of you know which one that is because never never never again will I dare to affront the forces governing the curse of the Play That Shall Not Be Named. When old actors tell you not to say MacB*** onstage THEY ARE NOT SHITTING YOU. BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN. Shortly before our first performance, me and a couple of the guys in the group were hawking the show and dropping the M-bomb without a care in the world. And then what happens? Poor
nottygypsy runs headfirst into one of the support beams of the stage. I'm surprised she was able to keep going. Add head trauma to a whole comedy of errors that finished up with me in my role as MacDuff having to stab MacB*** with a piece of Birnam Wood. The next day we had all learned our lessons about dropping the M-bomb and the show went off almost hitch-free. So, overall, a great weekend, just with a boner or two.
