Last night was
louie_d's birthday party: tasty food at the Yardhouse followed by some karakoe. It was great seeing
cskippy2001,
sayyana,
angelbedwell and others.
This morning, at the ungodly hour of 7 AM I had Chinese class. Today we learned amongst other things, how to make an adjective out of "hao" (= "good") and various verbs. For example, "haokan" (kan= to look) is handsome or pretty. Haoting (ting= listen) is euphonic, pleasing to the ear. Haowan (wan= to play) is fun. Simple enough. So Professor Liang was going around the class having all the students give an example of something they find pleasant using one of the combinations. One woman was like "Worlds of Fun haowan." For some reason, when my turn came around, all I could think of was this one dude from last night singing "Shock the Monkey." so I said "Um... Peter Gabriel hen haoting." (hen= very) Professor Liang figured he was a singer, though was not familiar with his work. As far as I know, Professor Liang's favorite things in the world are basketball and Nicole Kidman.
