Went up to
sidhefire's b-day party up in Washington last Saturday. It was a great time (wine bar, Gaia Consort concert, and then cake and socializing), and also just a good time to pause and reflect. The crowd up there is a pretty neat clan, and it was neat to see how their community works and compare and contrast to things down here. The drive up and down were a bit challenging, zipping up and down I-5. On the way up it wasn't quite icing, but close enough to keep me nervous. On Sunday, on the way down it was warmer, but it was driving rain and big huge wind gusts. Of course better than today, where they've actually closed down 20 miles of I-5 (in the Centralia area, all of which I used yesterday) due to flooding. That would have been an interesting challenge to figure out how to get home. Heading to the coast would have probably have been out since that's where the worst of the weather is hitting, so I'd've had to have found a way around the flooding to the east. And you can't go too far east before running smack in to the cascades and I'm sure the passes through the cascades are snowy messes right now.
