An Open Letter

Dear Detroit Pistons,

Thank you. Thank you for two of the most incredible years any sports fan could dream of. Thank you to Joe Dumars and the coaching staff. Thank you Larry Brown. Your class rubbed off on the rest of the team and is a breath of fresh air in this all-too-classless society. Thank you Chauncey, for your timely threes, and clutch free throws. Thank you Tayshaun for your wing-span. It's almost as big as mine. Thank you Sheed for um...well, for your antics. As much as you talk shit, you seem to always back it up on the court. Thank you Rip for your mask and your chipmunk-like offense. You never stop moving, and it's beautiful to watch. And thank you Ben. Benjamin Wallace. What can i say. Whether 'frod or braided, you always bring hustle, effort, and most importantly, heart. You are the heart and soul of this team, and there's nobody i'd rather have as our poster boy.

One game does not diminish greatness. The Spurs played well and deserved to win. Josh and all the Spurs fans out there...congratulations. Enjoy this championship, you were the best team in the NBA this season. But that does not mean that the city of Detroit and the Pistons fan base around the country isn't proud of what our team accomplished these past few seasons. A championship one year, and a trip to Game 7 of the NBA Finals the next. What more could you ask for. You guys represent our city, our state, and the sport of basketball well. Thank you again.

I will sleep well tonight, prouder than ever to be a Detroit Pistons fan.

Goodnight,

Daniel J. Ellman
