Well, that was quicker than expected. Exactly 2 days BEFORE officially being offered the job at the Tribune (which occurred at 11:07 PM this evening), I had an article published in the paper for the first time. On Friday my prof asked me to update an article i had written about Kari Lehtonen, the Wolves goalie, because he was thinking of putting it in Sunday's paper. "I think I can handle that," was my lovely response. And two days later, there it was, on page 3 of the sports section in the early Sunday edition (not sure if it made it into the main sunday edition, but hell, i don't care!)
Here it is:

It wasn't quite as exciting as my first time on the air at Chicago Public Radio. I'm not sure why. I guess it's just the passive nature of newspaper writing. Despite the fact that the early Sunday paper has a circulation of more than 200,000, merely having somebody read my article doesn't have the same force as someone listening to me tell them a story. I guess that's why i'm a broadcast guy. But hell, this newspaper thing is still really fun. I think i'll ride it for a while...
