Anime Dubs

Are these U.S companies that dub anime totally deaf? That they can't tell how bad they sound? There are some anime that is dubbed good like Gundam wing. I thought that kyou kara maou was dubbed bad until I discovered my new favorite anime (Kakuoki). I would like to listen to dubbed anime while working on a project so that I don't have to look at the screen while I am working. But watching kakuoki in dub I just can't stand to listen to. It is just atrochious
