Summary: Someone had to pick her up from Aberdeen.
Sarah played with the phone cord nervously as she listened to the phone ring. Her mind felt more jumbled than the Doctor’s pockets. A hundred different thoughts were all going off at the same time but in different directions.
Why couldn’t she go with the Doctor to Gallifrey? Had the Doctor meant to drop her in the wrong place? He could have at least hugged her or something before she left. You’d almost think he wasn’t going to miss her.
Sarah didn’t like that thought, so she pushed it aside. “Come on, Harry pick up the phone,” she muttered under her breath.
What if Harry didn’t pick up? What if he did and wouldn’t come - she hadn’t really spoken to him since they’d fought about him joining the TARDIS crew again. What if a woman answered?
“Hello? Is anyone there?” Harry’s voice in her ear said.
Sarah winced. “Hello, Harry? It’s Sarah.”
“Sarah, old girl, didn’t expect to hear for you a time,” Harry said. “Everything all right?”
“Don’t call me ‘old girl’, Harry. Yes, everything fine. I just need,” Sarah blinked hard. “I just need -.”
“Sarah?” Harry sounded worried. “Where are you?”
“Aberdeen.” Sarah clutched the phone, aware that the shopkeeper was staring at her. “Harry, he left me. He just-” she broke off not trusting her voice.
“I’ll be there as soon as I can, Sarah,” Harry told her firmly. “Tell me exactly where you are and I’ll come get you.”

Harry glanced over at Sarah, then back at the road. “Are you all right, old girl?”
Sarah sighed. “Harry.”
“Sarah, are you okay?” Harry tried again.
“Honestly?” He could hear the sigh in her voice and spared her a glance.
“Honesty is the best policy,” He agreed.
“No, I’m not okay. I think.” She gave a little laugh. “Actually I’m not sure what I think at the moment.”
They feel into silence with Harry trying to distract himself with the drive. “The Doctor isn’t everything you know,” he finally blurted out.
He could see her flinch even though he wasn’t looking at her. “I know that.”
“It’ll be hard to adjust, but it’ll come. Somewhat,” Harry said softly.
A glance told him that Sarah had turned towards the window. There was silence again.
Harry tired once to make conversation, but Sarah quickly cut him off.

“We left you in London, didn’t we?” Sarah said when they’d stopped for lunch.
Harry picked up a chip and didn’t meet her eyes. “You could say that.”
Sarah rested her elbow on the table. “Then say it, Harry.”
“Sarah, what are you going to do now? Go back to work for the paper?” Harry asked changing the subject.
“I don’t think they’ll be keen to give me my job back after all this time,” Sarah said taking the chip from his fingers.
Harry laughed. “I’m sure you’ll find something Sarah. You always were a brilliant reporter.”
Sarah smiled and blushed. She traced a pattern on the table. “Are you trying to butter me up, Harry?”
“Possible,” Harry admitted.
“Still, I’m not sure what I’ll do in the mean time. I don’t think I can jump right back into the ‘real world’ so to speak,” Sarah said, stealing a few more of his chips. “Plus the Doctor might be back for me anytime. You know how he is.”
Harry glanced over at her. “You could marry me. In the mean time, that is.”
Sarah dropped the chip she was holding. “Did you just propose to me?”
“I guess I did, Sarah,” Harry told her with a bit of a smile.
“Yes,” Sarah said simply.
Harry played with his cuffs. “I know this is rather sudden, but I have thought about it for a while now and --” Harry stopped and looked at her. “I beg pardon?”
“I said ‘yes’, Harry,” Sarah told him laughing.
“Oh. Well that’s --” He grinned widely. “That’s brilliant then.”
Sarah nodded in agreement. “Yes, it is.”
