The end of an Era? (which might be good for once)

As many football fans have already heard Denver's Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler has been traded to the Chicago Bears! This is already pretty big football news (Denver trading an all-star franchise quarterback?), but it's even bigger for any Bears fan.

Football cut so those who don't care can skip )

Yeah I just saw the OT pickup which makes me feel a little better. At the same time, I don't wanna say it's a done deal until we see how things go. Williams in particular is nowhere near proven yet with his surgery and whatnot. Either way, I'm a bit more optimistic.

As for picks, yeah I totally agree it's a mixed bag. For every Greg Olsen we draft in the first round, there are also Grossman, Bensons and so on. Now that I think about it though, *IF* our O-line is solid and we get some receivers (even one), we'd be pretty good on offense. We already have a RB, TE (hell two!) and now a QB.

At the same time, I think our defense is overrated (there I said it). I mean we're good and all, but given that we're paying three players *Franchise QB* salaries (Urlacher, Harris and Briggs), I'm a bit disappointed. Briggs was the only one who played to his salary.

In any case, I'm cautiously optimistic. If we do great well...Angelo was right and I was wrong to have doubted. If we do bad though...the next few years look pretty bad for us with retirements in the Defense and no top picks in the draft.
