I'm gonna backup Audra on this... I think we're mostly trying to get to the same points. In the process of trying to point things out, I think I might have left out that I've definately seen a possitive change in your attitude and being. You're on the right track - you just need to follow through. I completely agree on the points Audra made reguarding giving it another semester to feel it out. The only way you know is if you try.

I also agree that money is by no means a good judge of what you should do. Granted - you need to make a living - but if you hate doing what you do for the rest of your life, what's the point?

The point at which I'll go one step further than Audra on is that that drive and suppport you want needs to come from within. You're the only one who needs to be happy with the choices you make. Not me. Not your parents. Not Audra. Not anyone. Just you.

Heh... its true that YOU are the only one who will ever totally be with YOU. Therefor, you should make yourself happy first. Then worry about other people. If someone is putting you down for the choices you make (and genuinely means it) - ignore them.

Professors come and go. If the work is intresting - then stick with it. When the work stops being intresting, reguardless of how good or bad the professors are, it's time to invest in a change of major.

I wouldn't write so much if I didn't care. You've made positive choices and really seem to intrested in changing your situation. That's very admirable. Keep it up because you are making progress.

The only suggestions I can give in reguards to doing work and dealing with difficult professors are the following:

1)IF someone is a dick, just generally unplesent or insane. Kill them with kindness. Make sure they know your name. If they're still not intrested in knowing you - make sure you follow the required work for the class to the letter... and then a little more.

2)Treat every project like its the last thing you'll be graded on for the class. If you you make even the seemingly unimportant things important, then you'll end up impressing people by showing them you care about what they teach. People, espically professors, like to think they're making a difference and that someone cares about what they're doing. Regardless of if you actually do or not, its good to appear that way. Appearence is everything.

I know you ran into some problems with getting papers done towards the end. It happens to everyone *shrugs*... Don't sweat it. Just learn from it. If you think a paper is gonna take you three days to write - just tack on an extra day or two as a safety net.

My dad - for all his stupidity - did have a pretty wise saying when I was growing up. 'When you make a mistake, you're only an idiot if you don't learn from it'...

I'm rambling because its late. Long story short - by thinking about your future, your showing that you belong here. If you need help or want advice, just ask. You are making progress, it will just take some time to realize it.
