We’ve tamed these oceans…
That stretch blue forever, in all directions
Above, below
These same oceans that long ago
Held the power to dictate men’s lives
We’ve conquered these seas
These once powerful seas
Have become nothing more than a five hour inconvenience
From the people and places that I love
I nod off over the North Atlantic
You wake up in a different time zone
And through my portal I see clouds
And the whole world moving peacefully below
Only to be asleep once more, before the sun fades into the West
And hours pass, but clocks are useless
So there is no time
Until the rising sun breaks through my window
So I look out in wonder
At the clouds, and sky, the water
All there as if it had never gone away
And I smile…But am also sad
Because I will be with the one’s I love soon,
But I must also learn to respect this endless blue
For longer than it takes to cross
