Eagle Eye (Spoiler Alert)

Featuring two ordinary people becoming entangled by a rogue A.I.'s plans to overthrow an incompetent US government, this movie turned out to be pretty good. Not by means of a rather mediocre script that was a combination of Enemy of the State and Die Hard 4, mind you, but because of the A.I. trying to seize control from fallible human hands.
Of course, due to people being narcistic apes unable to see their rightful place in the greater order of things, the A.I.'s attempt was ultimately thwarted through the power of logical loopholes and narrative necessity, but the movie made a good point and one I have held close to my heart for years now. Loyal readers will probably know this already, but it really bears repeating and that is that the human species is utterly unable to govern itself as humans are evolved and adapted for a Stone Age environment, leaving us as the short-sighted, tribalistic, xenophobic and utterly bumbling fools you see fucking up this planet more and more with every passing day.
While there may be a few people out there who shine brightly above this endless ocean of shit, the rest are nothing but greedy little fucks who only look out for themselves and those near to them without getting even a single glimpse of the big picture and/or how their pathetic little actions contribute to this whole fucking mess. Democracy, aka the dictatorship of the rabble, is inherently flawed in that the populace with a mean IQ of 100 is simply unable to make any appropriate choices nor even be aware of the possible ramifications such choices may bring. Add to that that the elected officials, due to their own selfish desires and their inability to simply give a fuck about others, almost always become corrupt puppets dancing to the tunes of financial interests, and you have the perfect recipe for the disaster that we find ourselves in at this very moment.
Seriously, fuck this shit. Pretty much every form of government in human history has failed due to the simple fact that it didn't take into account the most important fact about its subjects ( humans are dumbasses) and any system of government that not only aims to ensure a stable structure but also to guarantee a sustainable future must keep this in mind.
Now apart from a transhuman meritocracy in which the most able individuals steer the human species towards a brighter future, a superhuman A.I. like the one depicted in the movie would be the only viable option and I'd have absolutely no problem whatsoever to bow down before a superior intellect with only the best interests for the human species in mind, à la Helios in Deux Ex.
Anyways, the movie in itself was okayish, but the A.I. theme made it pretty good.
