Party thread, aaaand GO!

May 16, 2009 02:20

In one corner of the Nexus sits the Doctor, wearing one of those silly cone-shaped party hats (his is green with silver stars on it!), behind a rather long table that has, among a few other things, a huge cake.

Not just any cake.  A birthday cake.  Said cake has three candles on it, one shaped like a 9, one shaped like a 2, and another 9.  There are ( Read more... )

There is a TARDIS in the corner, her shape being that of a small cabinet. She might seem familiar to the Doctor though, for she may not be the police box yet, she will be soon enough.

Out of the cabinet emerges a small girl, eyes wide and curious as she approaches him, studying the cake with curiosity. "If you want to celebrate your date of birth," she begins. "Why don't you simply go to the day, instead of picking one at random? Or do you not know?"

Oh, and this'll be the Doctor just staring, because he can feel that she's his, but he can also feel that she's, well, not his at the same time, and you'll have to forgive him, but the feeling is making his temporal senses just a touch on the dizzy side.

"Er... hello," is all he can manage. Sorry about that, baby-TARDIS.

She stares back at him, head tilting just a little as he keeps it up. She understands that things aren't quite right, can feel the inaccuracies in the timeline but the full extent is lost on her. The Chameleon Circuit may not be damaged yet but the TARDIS is still in need of a few good repairs.

"Hello." She smiles, even waves to him because that seems about right given the current situation. "You don't seem to be enjoying your party anymore."

Yeah, he's still not quite over this. It's weird. Very, very weird, because he's met people before he's met them, but never his TARDIS, and the psychic link that should be there but isn't is...

Well, it's not exactly the most pleasant of feelings, that's for certain.

"Oh, no, party is going wonderfully!" he says hastily. "Would you like some cake? ... Can you eat cake?"

She watches him, considers the tone of his voice and shakes her head. "It was going well. It was and now you're upset over something. What's happened?"

She doesn't think she can help but if it was her presence that upset him, she can remove herself and let him enjoy his party once more. It's not that difficult at all.

"It's nothing," he says, smiling. "I'm all better now, see?"

And he is, mostly, now that his mind has had a few moments to sort itself out.

She shrugs because if he says he's all right, he must be. "If you say so."

One hand reaches out to poke lightly at a plate. "Are they good?"

'Sister!'

Oh, Lolita is quite delighted by this particular turn of events. The other TARDIS is so very young, still practically a child- as much as any TARDIS can ever be a child- and Lolita grins.

"Sister." She says the word carefully as if she's tasting it, deciding if it suits her.

Turning to look at the other, she studies Lolita, considers her carefully before nodding and the first traces of a smile come to her lips.

This time the word is said with a slight bit more fondness to it, though there's the hint of hesitation as well. "Sister."

The faintest hint of a petulant frown creases Lolita's brow when the TARDIS doesn't immediately seem to recognise her- but then, it is, perhaps unsurprising, the timelines in this place being what they are. And she mustn't forget that the Doctor's TARDIS is older than she- a different type, fully functional when Lolita was still being grown to be the latest, shiniest model.

'Do you know me yet?'

"No," she says simply. "I don't. You seem to know me. though."

She assumes the timelines are different, this place feels like it's nothing but crossed lines and distortions. However, she can't help but feel the slightest bit displeased. If she had to find herself in this situation, she would have much preferred that she be the one ahead rather than behind.

'I do,' she agrees. Nothing else needs to be said, because yes, she does; the TARDIS is her dearest friend, just as their Time Lords once were.

'And the Doctor?' Doctor isn't the word she uses, but rather the Gallifreyan signifier of that entity, who he is and was- Theta Sigma, the boy who ran away, who adopted Earth as his own, set in an impersonal possessive, with the TARDIS as the possessor.

"he is not with me, not now." She closes the distance between them, one hand reaching out to brush lightly against the other. It makes little difference what they do in this state but she can't help herself, she's drawn to Lolita and she sees little reason to fight that.
