Three cheers for Burlington Coat Factory!
This is actually 75% success story and 25% sob story, but...
For $20, I just bought this jacket at Burlington:
As our expert cosplayers can probably tell, the collar is not quite perfect. The tragedy of the story is that Burlington Coat Factory did have another jacket-- same brand, same color, etc-- however the collar was, I don't know how you would describe it, larger and sort of folded back over itself... Basically, it was a screen accurate collar to Rose's jacket.
Unfortunately, the store I was in only had that style in a small and I'm a medium. Unfortunately part II, although this is a jacket, it's considered part of Burlington's "clothing" selection, which they only sell in stores, not on their website. So, the only way to find a medium in the correct-collar style jacket would be to try a different Burlington, and I don't have another one near by. But, I figure my hair always covers the collar anyway, so...
That whole "clothing section" thing is annoying too, because I can't just post a link. You'd actually have to go to the store...
However, for those of you with easy access to a Burlington, I highly recommend getting over there at your earliest convenience if you're interested in this jacket. For only $20, this strikes me as a rather wonderful alternative. Here are some more pictures, if you'd care to see.
A better picture of the side of the jacket-- although, how classy am I? I was really trying to not get the toilet in the picture... Why does my house only have good lighting in the bathrooms?
Here you can see the evidence of my "collar woes." Hopefully, if any of you decide to stop by Burlington, they'll have the correct style in your size.
I did also buy a gray dress at TJ Maxx and it might be a stretch as far as series 6 Amy goes... I don't know. I need to try it with other aspects of that costume-- which I don't have here right now-- and if it ends up looking alright, I'll share.
PS- Is there any sort of difference between the tags 'Rose' and 'Rose Tyler'?
