So, after thoroughly stalking this community for a few weeks, I made a livejournal account, joined it, and now I'm posting. Cause I figured you guys could help me out with my Amy Pond Halloween costume

unfortunately, i'm a horrible sewer (is that even the word?) and so is pretty much everyone i know. i'll definitely look at walmart or joannes when they start setting up halloween costumes, i was hoping i'd be able to find a wig locally but not 100% positive. thanks for the suggestion!
For Amy's sweater cheap-ified, I've considered taking a normal oversized (or just men's) sweatshirt (easily obtainable... anywhere: your school might even give them out for free or for a small price) either in red or dye it red (I don't think that would cost too much). I know there are some that do have elastic sleeves and bottoms. For Halloween in America, that'd be close enough.
Also, she wears a brown headband in TtoA/F&S. It doesn't have a plastic look, but some sort of cloth material. Goody sells lots of fabric headbands at Target and similar stores, so you should be able to get something for under $5.
The black socks are crew socks, with the cuffs turned up.
And if you are looking for really cheap, and not screen accurate, an over-sized red sweatshirt that is a pullover would work. No pockets in front, though. If you're lucky you might find a hoodie like this without pockets or zippers.
I bet if you check around in your school, you will find others who also like DW. If your school has an SF club, that's a good place to start. If you live in a larger town or city, there's probably a local SF club or even a DW club where you could meet folks who share your interests.
