Ever since I first saw “Silver Nemesis” in 1988, I have wanted a replica of the Seventh Doctor’s pocket watch. (The Mike Tucker-constructed original sold at auction.)
I have bought another Casio Twin Graph II AE-21W and its on its way to me (the other one I have I am keeping as a collectors item in its own right), I have a rabbit hunter design pocket watch case, I have some plastic sheets from a local hobby shop, ball bearings, black and silver filmo, the correct watch chain, black and silver paint, plastic spur for the little cylindrical silver pieces, etc.
However, I am encountering some problems:
I do not want to permanently fix the faceplate and Casio watch inside the watch case because I want to be able replace the pocket watch case with a more detailed one, when I finally find a different one. (The one I have is the rabbit hunter design, but does as detailed as some cases of the same design.)
I am having difficulty making the faceplate. I have cut out some circles, but I am having difficulty cutting out space for the watch face to show through using my craft knife. To make matters worse, in addition to mild Autism, I have a neurological disability called Dyspraxia, which basically means I am clumsy by nature! So my hands are not as reliable as I would like them to be.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/physical_health/conditions/dyspraxia2.shtml How can I remove the Casio watch from its case, attach it to the faceplate (and with what exactly) and insert it into the pocket watch case, without breaking the LCD screen (which is very fragile), causing the battery to accidentally pop out the back, or any other clumsy accident? (I did wonder whether to put a small dab of Superglue on either side of the piece of metal that holds the battery in place.
Unfortunately, due to its small size and due to my Dyspraxia, I am experiencing difficulties and would appreciate any advice; those of you who have already made your own. I thank you!
