HELP!!! ROSE TYLER DALEK GUN!
Hello fellow Whovians!!
This is my first posting! I haven't used Livejournal in YEARS so....noob alert.
Anyway..... I built the Dalek gun from Journeys end. It's mostly Styrofoam and paper mache.
Here is a pic of the finished product.
I took it to my first DW convention and it started falling apart! I need advice on three things.
1) The piping.....I used shower hosing for the piping and it looks great but I couldn't get the glue to bond to the metal! I had to tape the piping on. Any advise on what I can use to get the piping to stay put? Someone at the con mention something about a dowel (sp?) but as I said, I have no clue what i'm doing.
2) The strap. I had a strap on the top in the front and back of the gun. I cut wire hangers (really long, at least 3 inches on each side) and shoved them in the gun directly, using glue and let it dry for 24-48 hours. The glue didn't do any good and the wires came right out. Now I have no idea what else I can use.
3) Any ideas what I can use to help make this thing more structurally sound? The paper mache is starting to lift and curl just the tinest bit. It's not a big deal for now, BUT I fear in the months to come it will just deteriorate more and more, especially if I keep bringing it to cons. I was (probably stupidly) thinking link Spackle, or some kind of clay or mold. idk?
ANY Advice what so ever would be super super super appreciated!! I'm surprised the gun even turned out as decently as it did considering I'm not very crafty at all and this was my first project, like ever!
