For Halloween I decided I wanted to be Kissogram Amy so I spent a few weeks working on it. I wasn't able to get everything (I still don't have the radio and belt pouches - I improvised the latter) but it was a major success!
The first thing I knew was that I would have to improvise most things. Not only I live in a small town, it is a small town from Brazil and even though it is near our largest city, I can't afford to wither travel there or pay for shipping. The shirt and skirt were easy. I had a white shirt (which I only needed to fix the waist because it was HUGE!) and I borrowed my sister's skirt.
For the vest, I used
lisahpg's suggestions and modified a jacket that I had. It was a jeans jacket that had front pockets.
I had a seamstress do it because I have no talent for sewing whatsoever and it was really very cheap.
Then I just had to dye it. My mom did it because she has experience dying clothes. It looked really very good. I printed the POLICE logos at a specialized place that prints banners and again, it was really cheap. My mom sewed them into the vest (nice having a helping mom!)
I used this fabric for the checkered parts and it was sooooooo absurdly cheap!
For the cravat:
Again, my mom made it.
I bought a very cheap watch (it's actually plastic painted gold)
I had to improvise some cell phone cases for the belt pouches and ended up without a radio (I was going to make one with paper mache, but I ran out of time.
And voila!
