DOCTOR WHO SERIES 6 POCKET FILLER BREAKDOWN

Jul 24, 2012 21:13

I decided to get going on my/the series 6 pocket breakdown, and i'm pretty much finished now.

ELEVENTH DOCTOR SERIES 6 POCKET FILLERS.

ALL EPISODES:

Psychic Paper: Used by the Doctor to get into all sorts of situations, Darth Mule just finished a run of them, although he might make another onehttp://www.therpf.com/f13/doctor-who-psychic-paper-wallet-134912/. There is also a version of the Tenth Doctors sonic screwdriver than includes Psychic paper.

TARDIS Key: A regular ERA key. Although it’s sanded down to avoid showing logos. Should be easy to find around various stores.

Sonic Screwdriver: Do i really need to explain? Two variations of it is seen in this series, read through to find out.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL:

The Doctor’s “phone”: A hap-dash of various pieces of technology compiled into a phone-like device, seen again in Day of the Moon. Without a doubt a custom build. Big Chief Studios’ figure gives a good (albeit small) reference for it. https://www.bigchiefstudios.co.uk/products/eleventh-doctor-16-scale-collector-figure/

The Doctor, Frank Sinatra, Einstein and Santa Claus at the Hunter’s lodge: Briefly used by the Doctor to prove the existence of Santa Claus, I would personally love to see somebody Photoshop this picture together so it would be a printable prop.

Broken/Half Sonic Screwdriver: After the shark ate the top half of the screwdriver, the Doctor was (for obvious reasons) left with the bottom half. The uses this seems to be capable of achieving ranges from homing and attracting the other half inside the shark, and later using it as a microphone, and the other half as a speaker. This could probably be made from a Character Options sonic with a bit of clever ingenuity.

Oil Lamp: Used by the Doctor when looking around the “security”(As Kazran’s father puts it)  Seems to be a relatively normal oil lamp, although I’m certainly no expert. But I have to say, it could almost look like the light was coming from a light-bulb placed inside the glass rather than burning oil.

Tom Baker Esque Scarf: Seen briefly around the Doctor’s neck as he takes Abigal and young Kazran to what looks like Switzerland. Is probably either vintage, or made for the show, I’d bet on the latter. Your best option would probably be to have it made, or make it yourself. Seek council from those crafty four scarf knitters around the community.

The Fez also gets a brief return as the doctor travels to Egypt with Kazran and Abigal, once again, correctly depicted with the term: “Cool”.

Sardick-branded playing cards with logo: Defintly custom printed for the show, another wonderful idea for a photoshop project in case you’ve got too much time on your hands. Try finding a nice pair of burgundy-back playing cards, and you should be fine.

Christmas Hat: It’s so ghastly I can hardly look at it, dear me, but if you must, this is also a viable option for cosplay. Find some paper and make on yourself. I won’t help you.

White Tuxedo: The Doctor is also seen wearing a White tuxedo when going to Hollywood, look around tuxedo rental shops, they should do, as his tuxedo is also rather baggy in the show. If you want to look your best though, I recommend Magnoli Clothiers’ option, as it (despite being based on the tux form Cassblanca) is more than accurate enough http://www.magnoliclothiers.com/casablanca-dinner-jacket-blazers-p-43.html Also, just a note, it’s worn slim with black suspenders.

THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT/DAY OF THE MOON:

The Fez gets a brief appearance at the start of this episode again, later in the same scene, he is also seen wearing a white tank-top when escaping from a POW camp.

Stetson: The Stetson given to the Doctor by Craig Owens has been ID’ed as a “Hutchins 2X Stetson Wool Cowboy Hat” and it can be had here for 69 dollars http://www.brassbitdiscountwesternwear.com/site/1561552/product/0140

The Doctor’s Diary: Similar to River’s Diary in many aspects, although it’s smaller and has a different design on the front. The writing on the inside appears to be Gallifreyan (or another alien language) If you can’t bind leather books, your best option is signing up to Risu’s group run, look here for more info http://gallifreybase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138096.

18th Century Wine Bottle: Thrown at the Doctor by Napoleon, and later drunk at the beach in Utah, (Although the Doctor doesn’t like wine) seems to be an ordinay’ish green glass wine bottle apart from the waxed? Top and the fact that it’s QUITE dusty. Just remember to spit out whatever your drink from it if you plan to cosplay as the Doctor.

“Special Straw”: Adding the extra fizz to the Doctor’s drink, his special straw is almost normal apart from what looks like some sort of filter at the bottom of the straw, any info about this would be nice (As I don’t have much experience about straws).

The Doctor’s Notebook: Used to write notes (duuuuhhhh). My method for tackling this prop was making it myself, it was awfully simply really. I took a few A3 sheets, and a sheet of beige’ish cardboard to make the book. Try googling basic book-binding, to find out how to put the pages together.  To write in the notebook, use a classic yellow pencil with an eraser on the back, like the ones usually used in schools and such.

Various Maps of L.A.: This would probably be a bit of a difficult accessory to carry around at a convention, but it’s still worthy of mention, essentially a lot of maps over L.A. being used to try locating the “Little Girl” look in different map-selling shops (If those exist) and looks for maps over L.A.

Straightjacket: Used by Canton to "capture" the doctor at area 51. Look around for different straightjacket stores (An area I’d personally prefer not to delve too deep into) And the chains should be easily available at most building stores, you could perhaps give them some white paint here and there to make it look more like the ones used in the show. The Beard he grows is CERTAINLY also of worthy mention, although it can hardly be thought of as an “accessory”.

Nano Recorder: Used to help fight the silence, the Nano Recorder can be easily obtained as a surprisingly accurate toy replica http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-Doctors-Nano-Recorder/dp/B0056EMMV0, the actual devices shot into the hands of whoever needs help in fighting against the silence seems to be some sort of small bulb of some sort. Glowing red, it would be difficult to get the electronics into such a small size. rob_t_firefly has figured out a way to do the glowing effect in one's hand, although it is slightly hi-tech  http://dw-cosplay.livejournal.com/822258.html

Hacking Device placed in the Apollo Command Module: Another against the Silence, this was placed on the Apollo Command Module by the Doctor to broadcast a MOST important message to the world. Seems to be a container storing some sort of lit-up liquid, with various electronics taped and glued to it. Also, doesn’t that striping on the antenna look slightly Pertwee Sonic esque? Also, should note, that Canton carries a similar device on earth, sending the signal between them.

NASA Handcuffs: Despite the needlessly ambiguous name I chose for them, the seems to be some pretty normal handcuffs. Your easiest option is probably finding a pair in a costume or toy shop.

Vintage Television: Another vital implement in the breaking of the silence, this television seems to be an old “Solid State colour” television. The brand name has been removed, though the “Colour” seems to indicate the manufacturer is English. Look around vintage electronic shops and garage sales for 60’s or 70’s television. This one doesn’t have any wood grain though, I should point out. You can judge wether you want to carry around one of these yourself, i wouldn't.

River Song’s PDA: Another device that I can’t help you with, ask the curly-haired River cosplayers about it, they might be able to help.

CURSE OF THE BLACK SPOT:

White Handkerchief:  The doctor briefly wipes his nose using a white linen handkerchief in this episode, before the siren obliterates it. It should be easy to find one. I found 7 of them in Macy's for 12 dollars.

THE DOCTORS WIFE:

Time Lord Distress Signal: Wissing its way into the TARDIS, this shining box kicks Neil Gaiman’s story afoot. Character Options produces an adequate version of it, which can even change colors (funky) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-Lords-Psychic-Container/dp/B005A54RX6/ref=sr_1_37?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1341011383&sr=1-37

Amy’s Cameraphone: The same one she uses in series 5, i don’t know what model it is (although it seems to scream ”Sony Ericsson” to me, ask the ginger-headed (and usually good-looking) Amy Cosplayers about what phone it is, I bet they’ll know)
EDIT: Seems they do, another_myself has told me the phone is a "Nokia 7100 Supernova"

The Welding Goggles from Vampires of Venice return for a scene in this episode aswell. Once again, google around Steampunk stores aswell as Welding security store things.

THE REBEL FLESH/THE ALMOST PEOPLE:

Christmas Snowball shaky-thing: The Doctor uses a small spherical Christmas snowball at the two points in the episode, from what I can see. It looks like it contains a miniature castle, it could possibly be one of the castles the used to film the episode.  It does also resemble Westminister Abbey in some regard, it’s stored in the right outer pocket. Look around souvenir stores and likewise.

Vertical flashlight: Similar to the one used in series 5 (but not the same) this one looks very industrial, being powered by a drill battery. It also looks like it’s capable of lighting from the top of the flashlight, although it’s turned off in the show. I’ve look around various construction equipment stores, and I haven’t found one of them yet.  Any info would be interesting.

Ganger boots: Worn by the doctor after his other pair disintegrates, these boots has been ID’ed as “Palladium Pampa Hi Suede boots” in chocolate., and can be bought here: http://www.palladiumboots.co.uk/shop/men/men-footwear/pampa-hi-suede-6385.html or here: http://www.palladiumboots.com/shop/?mv_arg=x&pid=02407:255.

Blood Clot medicine thingemabobby: Given to Cleaves to fix her blood clot in the brain (or something like that, can’t remember) it looks like it’s theater blood (or real blood :O) in a small sample tube with a white top.  If you don’t want to fuzz about in a drug store, try looking for spices, as they’re sometimes stored in similar tubes.

Red Balloon: Given to Buzzer, who gives it to his son. It’s a basic red helium balloon, with some red string tied to it. Should be easy to find, stored under the TARDIS console.

A GOOD MAN GOES TO WAR:

Headless Monk costume:  Briefly worn by the doctor to infiltrate Demon’s Run. Either make it yourself, or look around Live Roleplay stores, or other places selling medieval clothes.

Radio: Very briefly used by the doctor to call in the laser spitfires in space (never said/wrote that before) looks like a basic radio, like the types used in trucks. Look at garage sales and car junkyards to find something similar for cheap.

Cot: Previously used by (spoilers) it’s made from painted wood, your best (and pretty much only)bet, is to make this yourself. I haven’t seen anybody else make it so far, so it would be interesting to see. If you want a closer look, it seems they have it on display in the DW-Experience.

LET’S KILL HITLER:

The Leadworth Chronicle: Seen at the beginning of the episode, this would be an interesting custom prop to own. I’d love to see a run of them.  All I can say about it is that it’s DEFINTLY completely custom made, as there is no real Leadworth.

Red Polka-dot handkerchief: The Red Polka-dot Handkerchief from Cold Blood is seen again in this episode. Once again, it’s yet to be ID’ed.

Sonic Cane: Used by the Doctor in the restaurant scene. I’d suggest making yourself, using the characters options sonic as a start. Although the screen-used one definitely isn’t based on the normal sonic, as the whole thing is more rounded and polished than the one normally used. “the DOCTOR” has already made one, http://www.therpf.com/f9/11th-doctors-sonic-cane-125407/. Even though it isn’t 100% accurate.

NIGHT TERROR:

Rubiks Cube: Quickly swished by the Doctor, is a heavily used Rubiks cube, they should be easy to find.

THE GIRL WHO WAITED:

Doctor’s Toolbox: quickly seen in the TARDIS, it’s an old-school metal toolbox that “folds” out when you open it. It looks like it mostly contains various piping tools and nozzles, that and the next article.

Glasses: Found in the Doctor’s toolbox, these glasses are used to transmit images between Rory and the Doctor, I don’t know if these glasses has been ID’ed yet, but from what I can see, they do have quite a lot of magnification in them. Also I should note that it does have some sort of small electronic chip mounted on the right side.
EDIT: According to punkchica321: "the glasses he wore in The Girl Who Waited are topman sunglasses. A friend told me that(gotta give credit.), they just popped the lenses out."

THE GOD COMPLEX:

Apple: For some reason, apples aren’t rubbish anymore. The Doctor quickly pulls out this apple and bites from it in the beginning of the episode, stored in a bowl inside the “hotel”.

The Rubiks cube is also seen again, very briefly. It’s later seen solved.

Hotel tea cup: Used by the doctor while drinking tea, is a brown 70’s coffee mug. Look around garage sales and flea markets.

CLOSING TIME:

RC Helicopter: Used by the Doctor to entertain the children in the toy store. The Helicopter used isn’t controlled by Matt Smith, according to the Confidential episode, this helicopter isn't toy store grade. Although thorneboy says he found a similar one in a toy store.

S&G Name-tag: Given to the Doctor, in case he forgets his name, it can be bought from Forbidden Planet, although it’s too wide and has a copyright notice in the bottom. http://forbiddenplanet.com/81736-doctor-who-badge-the-doctor-here-to-help-forbidden-planet-exclusive/ There has also been a run of these, and i interest arises, there could be another one.

Blue Aluminum Butterfly net:  Used by the Doctor to catch the “silver rat”, this looks higher grade than what might be found in toy stores, look around animal shops, fishing shops and similar.

Jewelers Loupe: Used by the Doctor when modifying the cybermat, this black jewelers loupe looks like it might be painted with a black paint, possible to hide some logo. Try looking around on the internet, and see if you can find something similar, you could also try flea markets

http://www.gentlemansemporium.com/store/004188.php

http://www.amazon.com/DIAMETER-4X-POWER-JEWELERS-LOUPE/dp/B006KNGEHY/ref=sr_1_105?ie=UTF8&qid=1342638249&sr=8-105&keywords=Jewelers+loupe

The Stetson is also seen here again, paired with the green coat.

THE WEDDING OF RIVER SONG:

Dalek Eyestalk: Carried by the Doctor to prove his badassieness to some red bloke (Or something similar). Ask some of the Dalek builders about how they’ve made the eyestalk for their iDaleks.

Knitting for Girls: A magazine read by the doctor while waiting for the tesselector, I do hope somebody has made, or are making, a paper prop of this. Because I want one. I do wonder why he’s studying nitting, perhaps he’s making a scarf?

Dorium Maldovars box:

It isn't finished yet, i'll add the last few items later.

doctor: eleven, companion: amy, breakdown, props
