Hello everyone,
As many of you remember, I have recently been in contact with Louise Page, the Costume Designer for series 2, 3 and 4 of Doctor Who. She has been kind enough to answer our questions and I have posted them below.
She has been amazingly nice and done an extraordinary amount of work to provide us with as much info as she could!
Dear Jessica & the Cosplay Community
Thank you very much for all your questions, it has been quite a challenge on my memory answering them all! I have answered as many as I can and send apologies to the people who wanted something specific that I just can’t answer. I hope you will appreciate that some of these items were bought back in 2005 and although my memory is good, often I’ll remember the store but not the specific brand. Obviously when we shot the episodes we had very detailed costume continuity files with every item photographed and all brands listed, however these files are now archived and packed away somewhere in Cardiff, and I live in London. Luckily I have my final costume inventory on file which has some brands for some items listed which has helped! I have also spent many an hour checking through the dvd’s and my stills to prompt my memory.
With very best wishes to you all - Happy hunting!
Louise Page
The Doctor:
The Christmas Invasion:
Was David wearing Christoper Eccleston’s exact jacket/trousers in the beginning of this episode?
http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/10900000/Doctor-Who-Christmas-Invasion-the-tenth-doctor-10989075-768-432.jpg The leather jacket worn by David in the regeneration was the one that had been left bagged up ready for the scene by the series 1 team . I believe there were a couple of Ecclestone jackets of which one was used more for photos because it was in better condition, and so causes confusion amongst fans . Also it photographs differently depending on the light.
The trousers and boots however we bought new as obviously David is a completely different size.
Do you remember what brand of PJs and Robe David is wearing?
http://hclairezone.tripod.com/david/spoil1.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/stuart-m/4331860122/ The striped pj’s were by a company called DEREK ROSE purchased in John Lewis.
The navy fleece dressing gown was from DEBENHAMS, and it was from one of the designers for Debenhams, either John Rocha or Jasper Conran if my memory serves me correctly.
Series 2 brown suit:
How many pockets were inside the suit jacket?
Had any of the pockets been fixed to help hold the sonic upright?
I think there were 2 inside breast pockets, one each side but can’t really remember!
The inside pockets were not fixed for the sonic as far as I remember.
Series 3 & 4 blue suit:
Why was the blue suit not fitted as the brown? Was that to do with the actors weight changing or just intended to look different?
No - neither! The blue suit was made a year later than the brown and from a much finer cotton shirting material which had been dyed and therefore the fabric had to be backed in order to give it enough weight to make a suit out of. Consequently the weight and feel of the suit is slightly different to the brown and behaves in a slightly different way. They were cut by the same tailor using the same pattern.
Rose
Xmas Invasion:
What shoes/Boots are worn in the Xmas Invasion when Rose is still in her Bad Wolf/The Parting of Ways outfit?
http://www.eyeofhorus.org.uk/images/photo/09eccleston/01series/13-partingways/parting-rose-timevortex.jpg Now this is an interesting question as I checked the dvd and obviously you have realised you never see her feet in this outfit in The Christmas Invasion. I believe she had trainers on although I have a feeling they weren’t identical but we matched them with her continuity costume from series 1.
Did you alter the Xmas Invasion hoodie at all?
http://pics.livejournal.com/rosetylersale/pic/0001b121 No
New Earth:
Why was the collar from the New Earth shirt removed?
http://pics.livejournal.com/rose_thebadwolf/pic/0006bebc/ Designers prerogative! I didn’t like it!
Do you remember the brand of the hat worn in New Earth?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=41&pid=12581#top_display_media I remember the exact day I bought it with Billie and think it came from Urban Outfitters. However, if there was a specific brand inside, then I don’t remember.
Do you know what watch she is wearing in New Earth?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=41&pid=12788#top_display_media The watch which she wore after series 1 and which was used thereafter was a purple leather strapped watch from MARKS & SPENCER own brand.
School Reunion:
Do you remember if the buttons on the dinner lady jacket from School Reunion are showing or covered by fabric? Are there any pockets?
http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/3900000/2x03-School-Reunion-Screencap-Rose-Tyler-rose-tyler-3941764-640-368.jpg Sorry I really cannot remember but the garment was a long sleeved front fastening DRESS, I don’t think they do any with covered buttons? I have a feeling it was a snap fastening , if not it would have been button through. It is from ALEXANDER WORKWEAR.
Do you remember what shoes Rose is wearing with her dinner lady outfit?
Yes! She wore white leather clogs used in the catering industry, from ALEXANDRA WORKWEAR.
Girl in the Fireplace:
Are there any straps or details on the Girl in the Fireplace boots?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=44&pid=14882#top_display_media They are the Vintage tan FRYES she is wearing which pull on with Cuban heels but I really don’t remember strap detail - sorry.
Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel:
What jeans are worn with Rose’s Per Una top at the end of Age of Steel?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=46&pid=16412#top_display_media I had to look at the dvd for this and you only see a bit of them for half a second but I would say that they look like the pale blue LEE JEANS which although I can’t be 100% sure, would have been the ones I would most likely have picked to use. Otherwise they would have been her blue Rock & Republic jeans.
What brand is the vintage looking apron from Age of Steel?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=46&pid=16066#top_display_media It is from ALEXANDRA WORKWEAR.
Do you remember if the boots are shiny or flat?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=45&pid=15792#top_display_media The boots worn with the waitress ouitfit were Hobbs black elastic sided leather knee length boots. They were not particularly shiny and the heel was about ¾”.
Idiots Lantern:
Can you give any advice for fans that are making their own Idiot’s Lantern dress? Was this dress strapless as it is assumed? Is there a zipper in the back? Did you make the headband yourself or find one in the correct color? Was the helmet handled by you or props? If it was you, do you remember the brand?
http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv188/cuisle/28/lantern10.jpg The dress bodice was made from a pink silk chiffon with all over sequins and was a very expensive fabric! It was backed onto pink skirt fabric and onto a boned bodice. The dress did have little thin straps to keep it in place, I think, but can’t remember for sure. The skirt section is made from a pink polyester duchesse satin which was quite thick and had a silky semi matte appearance.
I’m pretty sure the dress had a side opening as that would have been my preferred choice normally but I can’t be sure, also I would have said the fastening was more likely to have been hook and bars if down the back rather than the zip but I’m afraid I can’t remember . If I ever see this dress again I will come back to this question!!! The petticoat was made from pink acetate satin with layers of net petticoats in very pale pink with layers of net frills.
The hairband was made from the duchesse satin used for the skirt section.
The helmet was supplied by props and they had it sprayed specially by a professional company to match the dress. No I don’t know the make.
The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit:
Was the undershirt worn in The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit the same color as the jacket or did it have to be dyed?
http://pics.livejournal.com/rose_thebadwolf/pic/00088c1h/ I’m not sure what this picture is of but this garment is not familiar to me. The top worn under the pink jacket was a very deep pink ribbed short sleeved LEVIS top that had an unusual neck shape with a couple of buttons. It was not dyed. It was about 2 tones redder pink than the pink of the jacket.
Love and Monsters:
What jeans are worn in Love and Monsters? Do you remember any details about them?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=50&pid=18486#top_display_media This photo isn’t clear, but is of the chase at the beginning and I believe they are the navy stretch cotton bootcut trousers from TOP SHOP.
By the way for those that want to know - the trousers worn in “Fear Her” were navy cotton (not stretch) sailor style trousers and were very wide legged, only worn in this episode, from TOP SHOP.
Do you remember what the “sandwich” hoodie worn in Love and Monsters looked like?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=50&pid=19078#top_display_media It was lilac, long sleeved and finely knitted.
Trousers and shoes from Love and Monsters
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=50&pid=19102#top_display_media This picture is from the end of the ep. I would say they are the TOP SHOP navy stretch cotton bootcut trousers and the Black long elastic sided HOBBS boots.
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday:
What shoes/Boots are worn in Doomsday? Are the same boots/shoes worn in the beach scene?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=53&pid=21023#top_display_media http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=53&pid=21408#top_display_media They are the black HOBBS elastic sided knee length boots that are also worn with her waitress outfit. These boots are the only piece of black footwear worn in series 2, and yes I believe they are the same ones in the beach scene.
However, it should be noted that the trousers she wears in the Beach Scene are only worn here and are black with a FINE WHITE PINSTRIPE, stretch cotton bootcut trousers from TOP SHOP. Also I have checked my files and for those still wondering the top worn under the black leather FIRETRAP jacket in the beach scene - It is a salmon pink long sleeved v neck top from LEVIS. The mittens were URBAN OIUTFITTERS.
The Stolen Earth/Journeys End:
Was Rose’s T-Shirt from Stolen Earth plain or did it have any pockets/buttons?
As far as I can remember it was short sleeved with a slightly ragged double layer edge on the neckline. I think the make may have been VELVET (I think I may have said something else previously).
Are there any details you remember from her Stolen Earth/Journey’s End trousers?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=25&pid=43509#top_display_media These trousers were dark blue J BRAND JEANS.
The End of Time:
Do you remember any details about the J brand jeans worn on The End of Time? Any designs on the pockets or buttons?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=131&pid=68344#top_display_media The jeans worn at the end of The End of Time are not J BRAND! This picture is part of a flashback as to how Rose would have been in 2005 and we bought an outfit in the style of the old Rose from series 1. These jeans were worker shape and came from OASIS.
General Rose Question:
Do you remember any brand of any jewelry she wore?
No, only the items I have already specified elsewhere.
What was the general hoop size for Rose’s hoop earrings?
The hoops were silver and from ARGOS. The hoop size was approx 4cm across.
I have had a few people ask me if you know anyone to contact regarding Rose’s Season 1 clothing, do you know of anyone?
Here is a list of season 1 Rose items from my files which may or may not have been identified but which I have brands listed for. If it’s not here then we don’t have the info available! Which episodes they were used in is for you to work out!
Blue Denim jacket : LEE

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m51xkeu7kH1r5ck5bo1_500.png The floral top was from PHASE EIGHT
The Stolen Earth/Journey’s end:

http://www.rdwf.org.uk/images/etal/stolenjourney/jackiesarah.jpg The turquoise coat and the blouse were both by GHOST

Cat Nun: Sisters of Plenitude
Oooh, I would also love details on the hats worn by the Sisters of Plenitude in New Earth (and Novice Hame in Gridlock). I figured out something that *looks* right for Novice Hame in Gridlock-- it's a rectangle folded over itself (I'll post photos when I can) but I'd love to know a little more of the construction details. For example, what are they made of/stiffened with, any internal supports (looks like there's an internal frame in Gridlock, but I can't tell on the white hats in New Earth). They look like a version of a cornette (medieval headwear, also worn by some orders of nuns). Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for organizing all these questions!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/gallery/monsters/800/cats1.jpg These headdresses are indeed what is commonly known as “Flying Nun” headdresses. Used by French nuns originally by The Sisters in the order of Saint Catherine Lahoure. You can find out a lot more about them on the web, but we started with a balaclava, in Novice Hames’s case in gridlock, but used the proper white cotton nuns headcoverings in New Earth, followed by a cotton scullcap. The actual Cornetto is made from heavily starched cotton, which is shaped and which almost feels like cardboard when they are starched by a professional laundry and were made up by my milliner. They fold into shape and are quite fragile if knocked about! They then sit on top of the skullcap and are quite snug so they don’t shift about too much. Also, you have to make sure the ears are well consealed, (as they are cats not humans) so we put a bit of padding over their ears to smooth out the silhouette.
Sarah Jane:
School Reunion:
The brand and style for the leather blazer Sarah Jane wears with her second and third outfit in “School Reunion”.
http://www.66batman.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1303249375/7 Leather Jacket
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=43&pid=14207#top_display_media The brown leather jacket was from KAREN MILLEN and we removed a couple of buckle details from the pockets. Lis Sladen - a lovely lady and greatly missed.
Brown Suit
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=43&pid=13978#top_display_media This picture is of a rust brown flecked tweed suit: skirt & jacket which was on display at the Doctor Who Exhibition recently in London and I imagine will be in Cardiff. I’m afraid I can’t remember the label at this time, even though I dressed that mannequin last year! but I bought it from a mid range designer brand and remember was limited stock.
Journeys End
Anything about this outfit
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=27&pid=45298#top_display_media This costume was borrowed from The Sarah Jane Adventures wardrobe.
The End of Time:
Anything about her outfit from The End of Time:
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=131&pid=68225#top_display_media This was also from her Sarah Jane Adventures Wardrobe.
Martha:
Shakespeare Code:
Jewellery and shoes
http://tansyrr.com/tansywp/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/The-Shakespeare-Code-6.jpg The jewellery worn by Martha all the way through series 3 consisted of an assortment of silver rings purchased from several shops. The silver and burgundy necklace, earrings and bracelet were made for me by a jewellery designer from Bali who used to have a market stall in Portobello Road, London.
This is from memory and may be wrong but I think the boots may have been from BERTIES.
The Lazarus Experiment:
Martha's plum-colored dress from "The Lazarus Experiment". Was it made or purchased because Bonhams did not list a brand.
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=33&pid=25883#top_display_media The chiffon dress was from TED BAKER. The reason that Bonhams didn’t list the brand is probably because we cut out a lot of the labels from garments in case they show on camera, either through the garment if it is sheer or because the garment is open - eg. a coat), or just because of the way they are standing and the angle of the camera as we don’t like labels showing.
The shoes were plum suede and were from HOBBS.
42:
Anything on the outfit for 42 as nothing has yet to be I.D’d would be helpful
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=34&pid=26273#top_display_media The rust vest top with chiffon detail was from JIGSAW.
The black cardigan was a sale item and I don’t remember the brand.
The jeans I think are blue denim from 7 FOR ALL MANKIND
I can’t tell what footwear she had on but think it is probably her black wedge boots which were long.
Blink:
Jacket from Blink as well as the knit top worn under?
Trousers, headband, necklace and footwear from Blink
http://dw-cosplay.livejournal.com/1211704.html#cutid1 The black military style jacket is from a brand called NAUGHTY and came from a shop called ARROGANT CAT as a one off item. (meaning - It was the only one!)
The blue vest top with lace/velvet trim is from JIGSAW.
The black trousers were TOP SHOP and she would have had on her black wedge boots.
The headband was supplied by the make up dept.
The necklace is the series 3 bespoke one always worn.
The outfit at the very end of blink
http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y150/Firewire16/?action=view¤t=ReferenceBlink.jpg The burgundy cotton skirt was TED BAKER.
The brown mesh knit wraparound ballerina style cardigan was a one off and I bought it in a little boutique on a sale rail.
She wore a black vest top underneath.
The tan leather long lace up boots I think were by BERTIE.
General series 3 questions:
Brand name of the necklace worn throughout the season?
There is no brand name. As mentioned in another question I had the necklace earrings and bracelet made for me in triplicate by a lady from Bali who designed them and used to have a market stall in Portobello Road, London.
Any shoes and jewelry that you can remember
I have already mentioned her footwear & jewellery in other questions.
The red jacket Martha wears in most promo shots
http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y150/Firewire16/?action=view¤t=MBpromoexample.jpg The burgundy leather jacket was bespoke made by a company called
J J WILLIAMS who have a shop in London. I have been asked a couple of times why the jacket looks different in some pictures and episodes. The reason for this is that I originally had 2 jackets made and then more some time later and the skins were obviously from a different dye batch. Also we used the original one for the first 6 episodes of series 3 and it had a lot of wear, and took a beating. The leather is very very soft and wears easily. Consequently, any later publicity photoshoots we did were done with a newer jacket for photo purposes as they were in better condition.
Martha’s red/brown heeled boots. Lace up, leather, brown heel. These are the ones on display at the doctor who exhibit.
http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y150/Firewire16/?action=view¤t=MBexhibitionfulloutfit.jpg I think they were from BERTIES.

http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=16&pid=36774#top_display_media The plum dress is made from silk jersey and was designed by me and made for us. The silk jersey was from a company called PONGEES.

Navy with black sleeves and buttons.
The Unicorn and the Wasp:
Donna’s black and gold dress? Was this custom made or purchased? What material was it?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=21&pid=39784#top_display_media The dress was an original 1920’s piece hired for the episode. The base of it was silk satin with embroidery and beading. It had a tabard section built into the dress. The metallic leather vintage style shoes were purchased but I don’t remember the make.
Do you remember the brand for Donna’s pink shirt and the belt she wears with it?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=21&pid=39762#top_display_media I think the blouse was from either MARKS & SPENCER or GAP - POSSIBLY!!!!! But can’t be sure!

The Lilac shrug I remember buying in a sale from some funny boutique in Soho and waited months to find an opportunity to use it!
The pendant was a precious stone one off piece.
Donna’s boots were all FLY
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=23&pid=41164#top_display_media The brown puffa coat? I think I bought this in the sale but I can’t remember where. Possibly H &M.

Any info on The Spacesuit would be helpful. Tips on making your own, fabric and so on.
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=22&pid=40581#top_display_media The spacesuits were adapted from a particular type of racing driver suit. I searched the country high & low looking for enough the same! Then they had to be chopped up and remade! The fabric was flame retardant and slightly quilted. The collars were made by Millenium effects as were the helmets. The boots were moon boots and the gloves were ski gloves.
Anything at all that you can remember on River’s white dress and shrug. Were these purchased or custom made? If they were made, what is the material?

This is one of my most favourite purchased outfits for a guest artiste ever! As I only had 2 hours shopping time and had lined this outfit up for Alex hoping it would work! And she looked so beautiful in it. The dress was actually purchased in the Selfridges sale (otherwise I couldn’t have afforded it) and was from AMANDA WAKELEY. It was ivory silk satin.
The cardigan was all over sequins on knitted cashmere!!!!!!!!!!!! And was DONNA KAREN. Many £ !!!! but she did look like she’d fallen from heaven!

What was it like dressing David Morrissey from The Next Doctor? What was your inspiration? Was it custom made?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=73&pid=49980#top_display_media The idea behind the costume for Jackson Lake was for us to give a nod to William Hartnell’s doctor (or so Russell suggested at the tone meeting). Obviously, it is a Victorian episode, and therefore the silhouette is from the period. The costume was designed by me and made in a week , via the Costume House workrooms with 2 full costumes and several spare pairs of trousers for the sleigh scene, and the cape coat which is only seen briefly. I had already selected and purchased the fabrics I wanted to use for the costume and had them approved by Russell so that once David was cast it was all systems go as time was in very short supply. I had actually worked with David many years previously when he first left drama school, and he is lovely to work with. We wanted him to be believable as a Doctor but obviously within the period the episode is set. I’m very pleased with the way that costume worked out and consider it to be my other ”Doctor” costume design!
Agatha Christies blue dress from The Unicorn and the Wasp?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=21&pid=39794#top_display_media This was an original 1920’s dress hired for the episode.
I’m not sure how to word my question so it makes sense, but basically, I’m curious about the coloration schemes for each companion. Martha’s outfits tend to be based in reds and blacks, Donna is usually in some sort of Jewel tones & metallic, ect - Was this a stylist choice to flatter the complexion of the actresses or was it something character -derived like a note from the writers to reflect the character personalities.
Basically, whenever there is a new companion or indeed any character, it is my job to work out a “look” for that character and put a wardrobe together. This is of course done in conjunction with the actor and is a process of trial and elimination, playing with looks and colours and working out what works best both for the character and also what compliments the actor/ skintone etc. I had no colour direction for the companions from the writers, but purely went with colours which we both felt worked with them. Some actors feel strongly about not wanting to wear a certain colour because they feel it doesn’t suit them, and so it’s always a work in progress but obviously once you find your character and start building a wardrobe and getting to know the actor better you have a feel for what works on them, and also fits in with the episode you are working on. Obviously I also check what colours the art department are using, and what atmosphere is being created to make sure the actors colours work with their environment and not clash or disappear! Sometimes a particular colour note will be put into the script, for example, in The Next Doctor it specifically says that Miss Hartigan walks through the snow to the graveside in a bright red dress.
However, I would say that all the companions and guests fittings were photographed and e mailed to the producers prior to being seen on camera so that they always knew what to expect. That way, if there was something concerning either the outfit or the colour that someone wanted to comment on, that was the time to bring it up. When you have been shopping for a character for a while you tend to spot things that you think are “them” more easily, and I tended to pick things up as I went along and take them back to set to try on the cast. Even now when I’m out shopping on another production there are days when I’ll spot a “Rose” jacket or a “Martha” and wish I’d seen it a few years ago!
Was it intentional that Rose and Meta-crisis Ten have matching colors on the Bad Wolf Bay end scene?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=27&pid=45958#top_display_media NO! and actually Rose’s jacket is purple and the Doctor’s suit is blue. Although I always try and work my characters to within a colour palette and want them to compliment each other on screen, sometimes it is just a happy coincidence! As long as they don’t look contrived!
What was your experience like working with John Simms?
John was lovely to work with and it was nice to get an opportunity to develop The Master’s character and wardrobe between series. Firstly in his Prime Minister role and then as a homeless person when he returns for the finale.
How do you decide what brands to buy? Do characters back story and personality come into the decision making process? The general thought for Rose has been that her character wore brands that someone on a shop girl salary could afford, nice but not over the top, is this a something that you think of or is this just community speculation?
When you read a script, you get a feel for a character, and definitely tend to treat it like a big jigsaw puzzle of clues. How old they are, what they do for a living, where they live, etc. and so you build up a picture of who that person is and then when you go shopping you tend to head towards those shops or brands that you imagine they would go for. Obviously sometimes you may hire or make pieces but the same rules apply. Often an actor will also want to shop at a certain place because they know the cut of a garment may suit them better there than elsewhere. I would say this is particularly true with trousers & jeans because they may have tried so many, and obviously I normally only get an hour or two with them to shop.
Certainly, Billie was very aware that early Rose was a teenage shopgirl on a limited budget, from a council estate and we started in Top Shop & Urban Outfitters, however later on it was possible that some of her wardrobe she found in The Tardis, and it becomes more important to find unique pieces that haven’t been seen before on screen. Martha was a medical student, and when we started we knew she would be staying in the same outfit for the first 5 episodes and so we wanted something that was practical because we hadn’t seen all the scripts, and didn’t know what sort of locations we’d be using, but I also was very aware that I didn’t want something that would become annoying or boring to see on screen too much. The leather burgundy jacket fitted the bill perfectly but was a very last minute decision, and we had many days of playing around trying to find who Martha was. Also, if you look in series 3 and 4 you will notice how much more sophisticated, self assured and confident Martha is in her clothes as the story has moved on for her. Obviously we will sometimes spend more on a garment than the character in the real world could afford, and vice versa. Ultimately, it’s just about finding the perfect item for the character, as long as my costume budget can afford it!
What brands did Jenny wear from The Doctors Daughter
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=20&pid=39229#top_display_media The black jeans were glazed stretch cotton (limited edition) from
7 FOR ALL MANKIND. The khaki t shirt was from MARKS & SPENCER
The boots were black, I can see myself in the store buying them, and Georgia running up and down checking them for grip, but sorry I can’t remember the make.
What brand is Gwen wearing in Journeys End?
http://doctorwho.sonicbiro.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?album=27&pid=44753#top_display_media All Gwen’s clothes came from her “Torchwood” wardrobe which Ray Holman designed and so I’m sorry I don’t know.
