So, inspired by redstapler et al's costumes at the last Gally, at the upcoming TimeGate con I plan to cosplay a Gallifreyan Rollergirl (Doctor Who + Roller Derby = ♥ ) for one of the days. What I would do is get a cheap costume helmet that is close and modify it. The Halloween stores sell all kinds of helmets that are thin plastic. Some toy stores have a police styled riot helmet that you could take the visor off of. You could buy either and cut it roughly to shape. After that you could detail it with epoxy putty or something similar. That is what I would do.

You could also buy a football helmet and modify it, but that would be way more expensive than my other suggestions. What ever you do good luck and post pictures!!!

Excellent ideas!

I don't know why it didn't even occur to me to check out a costume store! I was originally thinking of modifying a sports helmet (i.e. such as a football helmet, as you mentioned), but as you said, that would be more expensive.

I'll definitely check out the costume store route and definitely post pics! :)
