Custom S5 blue bow tie Finished.

After getting my Harris Tweed i was on a dilemma about wether to make a Time of the Angels cosplay or Victory of the Daleks. The choice mainly rested on the bow-tie, as i am planning to buy Magnoli Clothiers' Paul Smith replica when it comes out. So, although i saw a pretty much dead match for the burgundy bow-tie on another site, the shipping for it costs 4 times the price of the bow tie itself. Custom it was then.

The whole process behind making it, was rather simple. And i think it turned out fine, although maybe a little bit odd-shaped. I made it from the Denim fabric of an old pair of Levis' Jeans, which became to small for me years ago. The following picture pretty much explains the "mechanism" of the bow-tie.

Basicly, it's 3 pieces of fabric, one for the main body of the Bow-tie, one for the little strip in the middle and the last is the elastic strap going around the neck. And although i am aware that there should be two pieces of fabric for the main body, it simply became too bulky when i added that. And just for those curious, here is my main reference picture

Bada-woosh, the main problem i can see with mine is the shape, and my bow-tie isn't quite "stiff" enough, compared to the real one. Otherwise, it'll do fine.

And just for a little extra, here is the spoonflower pattern i made for the Aztec Bowtie, mainly for fun, but it seems accurate.
