I was planning to do a full write-up of my second trip to GallifreyOne, but it hasn't happened yet, and when I started to write it, I found I didn't have much of a coherent nature to say. It was all either minor details (what I ate) or endless squee (which was sooo much fun in the moment, but makes for uninteresting reading). Also, my Rivers and femme Six seem to have shown up in plenty of other people's pictures. Therefore, I am just posting a bunch of my Peri pictures, because she deserves some air-time as well.
And another picture of bikini!Peri, just to prove it did make an appearance at the con. I was unable to find anyone to take pictures during the window when I would have been able to dry off, so no 'drowning' shots.
For most of the day I wore the full Planet of Fire outfit over the bikini. Peri fans were not as vocal as fans of my Rivers the day before had been (mostly due to averaging about 15 years older) but I got a lot of thumbs-up and 'cool, Peri' as I walked around. Then someone ran up and handed me an action figure of PoF Peri. This was really neat, and now I want one!
This costume was something of a last minute replacement for my femme Seven which just wasn't coming together. I ordered both the shirt and shorts off Esty, and they are vintage '80s.
I was happy when they came in the mail, but I had to tear both of them apart and reconfigure before they looked the way I wanted. The shorts would have been perfect as-is, but a size 8 in the 80s is not the same as a size 8 now, and I had to add about 2 1/2 inches to the waist before they would fit right. Luckily the pleating on shorts of the period make it possible to let them out this far. I was able to steal enough fabric from the pocket linings to expand the waist.
The shirt fit perfectly but needed a bunch of work to make it more accurate. I removed the collar and front placket, as well as all the buttons (Really! look at the good screen grabs, there were no buttons or button holes, it was a cleavage only shirt). I used the removed placket to make a new facing for the inside of the button hole side, to minimize their visibility.
Finally I lucked out and ran into a great guy named Blake, who I had met and talked to a bit last year, but never gotten his name. I knew he did PoF Five, but I was afraid we would not manage to connect at the right time. Not only did we manage to, but he took the time to go out to the pool and get some really great pictures. Thanks! And thanks also to our photographer (Sam? I am afraid I have forgotten *sorry*). I am glad she was able to spare us the time as well.
