Sexy colors

So apparently very little of costumes i'm working on is the right color, right now.  :P  Working on Idris for a friend of mine and i have it mostly assembled - still need the orange petticoat and shoulder/wrist bows as well as cutting the sleeves to the right length and then distressing.

But, discussing with my boyfriend, we've decided (after the fact, of course) that the bodice is too light and a little too... cream, maybe?  Anyone have suggestions for after-the-fact color changes?  The costume probably won't be washed due to all the coffee/dirt/etc (aka impermanent) staining we plan on doing to distress it.  So would spraying or soaking it with a gray/brown paint mix or something be a workable solution to this predicament?  I mean, it will work as is, but i put this much work into it already, i'd rather have it better. :)  Pretty sure everything here is synthetics, so a RIT bath is out.
