I'm considering making a Doctor Who cosplay web site and I was wondering if there was any interest in such as thing. Most of the content would be fan/user generated, so it's definitely not something I want to jump into without some fandom support.
I got the idea from
this thread, which led me to think it would be nice if there was a gallery somewhere that showed everybody wearing their Doctor Who cosplay with accompanied height/weight/measurements so that those planning on a purchase or searching ebay would have a better idea of what's going to fit them. Of course this would only be applicable to store bought cosplay. The idea would be similar to something like this:
http://www.cockeyed.com/photos/bodies/heightweight.html However, this would require information that some may find personal and unwilling to share, so I'd like to see how people thought about that, too. I would say a rough estimate of weight would be more than acceptable.
Expanding upon that, I thought it would be nice to just have a plain old gallery of everyone in their DW cosplay. I would probably divide the web site up by character and then by episode. For example, there would be a separate section for Eleven's Series 5 tweed and his Series 6.
Browsers could then check out the web site to get ideas and just enjoy looking at some awesome cosplay photos. I know there's web sites with galleries such as cosplay.com, but I don't think there's anything DW specific? If I'm wrong, please let me know.
I have basic web site building skills and definitely enough knowledge to put a site like this together. I would create an email for picture submissions and then update the site weekly on a certain day with all the new submissions. It would be cool to have a format where people could comment on your photos, but I'm not too sure how to create that form at this point.
Thoughts? Additional ideas?
