In my continuing quest to make a prop from each Doctor's time I have completed my prop for the 10th Doctor Era (I already have 1-7 and 11). I work in electronics so the prop I chose was the marble circuit from the 4th season episode "Fires Of Pompeii".
There were six of these 18X18 inch marble tablets with a mordernish circuit design on them. The pieces were arranged to make one large circuit. The Doctor Who website had an image of the whole prop assembly on the site. What I did was pick one of the six panels I liked and cut it out of the whole pattern. I then blew it up to 18X18 inches and printed it. I used wood for the base for monetary reasons. I traced the circuit onto silver matte board, so it's relatively accurate. I hand painted a green marble effect onto the wood board. I hand cut out the circuits from the matte board with an exacto knife and a strait edge. After that I glued the circuits on to the board and clear coated the whole thing.
The lighting in the BBC image is very dark, so mine is lighter... but that's more what it looks like in the episode. Below is an image of mine and the image I got off the Doctor Who website. Now all that's left is a prop from the 8th Doctor and the 9th Doctor. Take a look and let me know what you think.
