Amy Pond Girl Who Waited FABRIC possibility

Sep 28, 2011 13:44

So like many, my eyes bleed polka dots these days. I decided to go on a little google hunt for FABRIC to see if there was anything out there that was close. Found one that's not too far off, actually.

mash-up for comparisons under here )

episode: the girl who waited, companion: amy, fabric, shirt/blouse

That looks great! I wish I had sewing skills now.

I've got some and when we were watching the episode I was ranting about not being able to find the shirt, my mom looked at me and said "I could make that for you." So really, finding the fabric was the MAIN THING I had to do. I'm kinda excited!

If only it was fabric available in the UK, I'd be all over that. I don't think I'd have time to get it shipped over and make the shirt before I want it on 19th Nov.

Oh no :( I know one of the places on the internet definitely did international shipping from TX, but that is a pretty short time frame!

Yeah, six weeks is cutting it a bit fine when I've never made a shirt before lol. Oh well, I have my eye on a shirt with pink dots that I intend to spend a tedious afternoon recolouring with a fabric marker.

My hand is nowhere NEAR steady enough to do that, so I wish you all the best!

Wow, that's spot on! Wish my sewing skills went beyond making pillows.

Hey, pillows are useful!! Everyone needs pillows ;)

But if you can sew in a straight line, following a pattern isn't that hard, and the pattern for this one looks pretty simple. Just get a pattern that closely resembles it & follow directions! :)

I guess that's true. I sew everything by hand though - would that make it harder to sew a shirt? I mean, I could always steal my mom's sewing machine from home, but I'm not sure it even works anymore.

It would definitely be more time consuming, certainly. But a shirt usually is fairly easy- this is the pattern I'm looking at right now (subject to change as I keep looking at things) because it has an option for a fitted shirt with a half-length pleated sleeve. It's definitely possibly but yeah, will take a good while by hand.

Pretty great option for Amy. I'm not having an luck with Rory's shirt from this same episode. Got an alternative for now that's on it's way. I'm dying to throw these outfits on for some pictures.

Is this just the episode of IMPOSSIBLE SHIRTS or what?! Awesome episode, impossible shirts. Figures ;)

YES. And what irks me even more is I literally have everything else screen accurate but the shirt- don't even know what it is! But again, great find on this fabric.

Augh! That is frustrating :( I wish you the best of luck in that! And thanks, I figured the eyeballs bleeding polka dots would have to work out SOMEDAY.
