Construction tip for Eights

Sep 13, 2011 21:17

direct from the costuming track at Dragon*Con comes this tip of possible use to Eight cosplayers:

Eight's costume features (presumably) silk in the cravat as well as the coat lapels and the trim of the coat cuffs.

one of the troubles of wearing silk is the awful tendency for silk to show water spots so prominently. one way to avoid this is (i'm not joking) WET the silk.

soak your silk in cool water for several minutes and let air dry.

now your silk is all one big (and EVEN) wet spot, and any future water spots will be unnoticeable.

i've tested this with a scrap of cravat silk and can tell you that it works (although, you'll want to test it yourself to be sure).

it's likely to darken the color of the silk half a shade or so, so you may want to bear that in mind.

just a thought...
