In America some Universities offer majors in areas like Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Are there any courses like this in the UK, and if so, does anyone know of any Universities that offer them?
Thank you!

This would possibly be part of a Sociology or Social Sciences degree.

It might be worth clarifying that we don't do "majors" in the American sense.

Agreed - gender and sexuality were at least part of most modules we did in my degree (Sociology) and are fairly standard parts of the subject nowadays anyway.

I did a quick UCAS search for something more specific just in case, but nothing came up.

Undergraduate degrees in gender studies (and related subjects) will usually be part of a broader degree, such as Cultural Studies, Sociology, History, English etc. See this webpage from the University of Hull as an example: http://www2.hull.ac.uk/ug/2013_undergraduate_courses/social_sciences/gender_studies.aspx

At post-grad level, there are far more [gender studies] only courses, though they might still be under an e.g. cultural studies umbrella.

I don't think you could get a complete degree in that field, but my university offers individual modules in the schools of sociology, criminology and law which focus or touch on gender and sexuality.

Pretty sure I've seen Gender Studies as a degree subject at some universities. Try searcing for "UCAS course search" that should give you details of all undergraduate degrees available in the UK.

(I tried to post the link but it got marked as spam.)

On the spam thing, if you knock the "http://" bit off the start of the link, or even the "www." too, then it lets you post it. LJ is weird and quirky like that.

Also, London Metropolitan University has a degree in Women's Studies.

I vaguely recall looking through a UCAS course list in 1999 (back when they sent you a brochure the size of a phonebook rather than doing it all online) and seeing a lot of courses and thinking "I didn't know you could do a degree in just gender studies." But now, it seems that degrees purely in such fields are rare. This might be because the landscape of higher education has shifted a lot in the last decade or so (tuition fees, concerns about employability, recession, etc).

It's mostly a postgraduate subject these days, if you want it to be a standalone thing. I know people who have taught it, but it was at Masters/PhD level or individual modules as part of various other degrees.

Majors, as others have said, don't exist in the UK.
