A/N: Here it is m'dear. Another drunk!Daniel fic. Hopefully you'll like it.....if it even makes sense. lol. Also, unbeta'd.

There was something Daniel perfected while on Abydos and that was a particular type of moonshine. Very potent, very tasty. It was probably closer to jet fuel than anything, but that didn't stop him from drinking it. And it certainly didn't stop him from continuing to make it back on Earth. Just for him and a few friends of course.

Bottles had been sent to Jack, Generals Hammond and Landry, Cam, Sam, Teal'c, Walter and Janet over the years. Daniel wasn't sure how much of it actually got drank, but it was the thought that counts. It was a taste not many people aquired, but it was something he could do for his friends. Something that was unique to him that he liked to share with those closest to him.

So it was that when Daniel thought he lost the person he'd grown to care for greatly, he took to that burning liquid. The woman who'd been by his side, annoyed him to no end and stolen various credit cards from him was gone. It occured to him on their way home from that horrifying event that he might never hear her laugh again. Never be able to find her lurking in his closet, set on seducing him again. His glasses might never be accidentally crushed by her petite ass again. Those thoughts made him unbearably sad.

Sure, there was the chance that she made it through the super gate and was somewhere in the Ori galaxy. Trapped. Alone. Scared, but capable. More than anything Daniel wanted to be able to rescue her. Wrap her in his arms and tell her that he'd get her home safe and sound. But there was a small nagging doubt in the pit of his stomach that told him it wasn't his place to do that. He'd never told her how he felt. He'd been afraid. Closed off. Shielding himself from the possible hurt she might inflict on his long damaged heart.

He wasn't her boyfriend, husband or lover. That was something that he was just going to have to deal with. After all, it was his decision. It wasn't like she had denied him or left it unknown that she was interested. Daniel just hadn't reciprocated.

And that's why Daniel brought out the bottle of white Abydonian lightning that night. He couldn't give up on her. But in the meantime, he didn't have to pay attention to the aching loneliness that settled in his chest. Getting fucked up would ease the pain of having his heart ripped out. There was the chance that he'd get it back, but at that moment, it was too much to bear.

One shot. Two. Three. Four. Five. Eventually Daniel just cast the small glass aside and nursed the bottle. The kitchen became blurred around the edges and he sat back in his chair letting the warmth radiate through his body. Everything was quiet except the blood rushing in his ears and the random car driving by on the street out front. Music just reminded him of her. How she'd blare the radio whenever they'd go somewhere or skip through a CD in his office. The television sat unused and dusty in the entertainment center at the end of the open living room. Vala'd been the last one to turn it on. Yet another thing that just reminded Daniel of what he might not witness again.

Daniel could look at the clear bottle in his hand though. It was something he'd never shared with her. Getting Vala drunk wasn't real high on his priority list considering she was hard enough to handle when she was sober. The minutes ticked by. The longer he sat there, the more depressed he became. Daniel knew he was gone when he heard a voice in his ear.

"Daniel......whatcha doin'?" an accented female whispered to him. He'd know that voice anywhere in the universe. He just never thought he'd hear it again.

"Drrrrrrrinkin'," Daniel replied, drawing out the word in an almost slur. If you were hallucinating, might as well participate, right? "Why'reya here?"

"Just checking up on you, darling. Figured I'd stop by....didn't want to miss out on all the fun." Vala giggled that melodious perfection of hers. "You're sure cute when you're drunk."

"Shu' up!" Daniel replied jokingly. "I'm losin' it, babe. Marbles done gone."

"So it would seem. Care to explain why you're killing yourself with the good drink here?" Vala appeared in the chair next to Daniel, from one place to there instantaneously. An amused expression graced her features as he shook his head, looking from behind him to her and back again. "Being a figment of your imagination has its perks."

"Well, you're gonnnnnnnne. What'm I s'posed to do? Pick daisies? Nope," Daniel replied, popping the 'p' in his last sentence. "Ima sit right her. Ain't nothin' else I can do."

"Daniel, my silly Daniel, you have to stop. Now while normally I would love to see you drunk off your ass, you can't do this right now. There's a damsel out there that needs saving. Me." Vala looked at him with meaningful eyes, pleading with him to put the bottle down and think clearly again.

"But howda I know where to f-find you? You just distapeared." Daniel settled his chin into his palm, his elbow resting on the table holding his head up. He looked so innocent and depressed; younger than the battle hardened archeaologist he normally was.

"You're smart, you'll figure it out. You just have to be alert. Can't give up hope." Vala shook her head to emphasize her point.

"Well why the hell not?" Daniel became frustrated, not liking being told he couldn't wallow.

"Because you love me." Vala offered him a smug expression with her reply, letting him know she had him. It was something he couldn't deny, even in his stupor.

"Fine!" Daniel grumbled, pulling himself up only to lose his balance and crash on the couch a few steps away. "Some 'allucination ya are. Tellin' me can't do wha' I wan'. You suck." His words were muffled by the couch cushion that was squished up against his cheek.

"Uhhuh. You'll thank me, or rather yourself in the morning. Goodnight, Daniel." And with those parting words, Vala vanished from the dining room table chair. Well, Daniel assumed she did because he didn't hear her again and woke up to an empty house. It wasn't odd to him that the house was empty in the morning light though, because he didn't remember the dark haired beauty appearing to him the night before.

If you asked him, Daniel would inform you that his Abydonian brew didn't cause trips. Just got you drunk. So could it be possible that the vision that appeared to Daniel was not a vision after all? A manifestation through the Kor'mac link? Some mysterious communication between lovers across galaxies? That, dear reader, we'll never know.
