Oy Vey!

Who doubted that the hijinks would ensue today? I sure as hell didn't. There are stories of malfunctioning machines, wet paper ballots that can't be read by the scanners, a poll captain who left ballots in her grandson's truck when he dropped her off at her post this morning, paper ballots that had to be voided because neither President/Vice President candidates were listed on them, and a poll captain who overslept and didn't get to her/his post to open the doors on time.

As if all that wasn't enough to give me a rash, I was shocked and horrified to learn how many folks I know who either aren't voting, or who are voting grudgingly!

Okay first of all, if you don't like any of the candidates listed on your ballot, there's a line down at the bottom that's blank marked write-in. See it? Yeah? Good. USE IT to...wait for it...write in the name of the person for whom you wish to cast your vote. If you can't think of a name to write in then write in your own, but for the love of all that's holy, don't complain! Do you know how many people would love to be able to have the privilege to vote?

Next, don't - do NOT - tell me that: your vote doesn't count, you didn't register because you didn't want to get stuck with jury duty, you didn't register to vote because you didn't want to have to register for the draft, or that you have never voted!

Are you kidding me?!?!

How about you chat up Al Gore and tell him your vote doesn't count? How about you get up off your lazy ass and participate in the processes of this country, jury duty included? And how about this - my kid had to (and DID) register for selective service, so quit hiding, sack up, and do the same.

There is no excuse for failing to register and vote. None. Ever.

Maybe when some of the citizenry of this country stop being whiny, lazy, over-fed babies who want everything handed to them on a silver platter, our world neighbors will stop seeing us as such.

Wake the f*ck up, America! It's time to appreciate what we have; time to participate in getting this country back on a positive track; time to stop taking for granted that what we have now, we will always have.

Just look at the past 8 years. If that isn't enough to spur you on, what will it take?
