Please help me with job stuff!!
So, I got a job offer today. I have to let them know by noon EST Monday. The place is brand new and is gorgeous, and they have almost as many toys as the vet school does (and more that I'll actually get to use). The people were nice from what I met (heard bad things about one tech), and it's in the perfect area for us to live. They don't pay the most, but I have the chance to earn more on production if I'm good enough. I would have the opportunity to buy in in a few years if I wanted, there's no ER duty and they don't do crazy boarding. All in all, it's a beautiful place and they like me.
So why am I upset?? Grrr!!
I liked the place, and they guy I interviewed with was a little scary at times but overall cool. I'd get to wear jeans on Saturdays. There's no mentoring though, I'd have to get insurance through astinus1 and it's still not exactly what I'm looking for.
I interviewed at another place the same day and I really liked that one. It's more relaxed, it's further out in farm country and the building is an old one that's really cool. They're more my style, but I don't know when/if I'll hear back from them. They're also a little farther away from downtown, so we'd have to live somewhere in the middle and not right there in town where the cows are. I also have pretty much a standing offer where I did my externship, and they have a mentoring program plus good salaries and nice people.
Unfortunately, none of them treat cows. For as much need as there supposedly is for mixed practitioners, nobody where I need to go is hiring. All of the cows and horses who need docs are farther away. I guess I'll have to buy myself a cow when we finally get a house somewhere and call that good. It really was kind of a silly dream anyway, but I sure clung to it pretty hard!
Suggestions? Please? Help?
