Disclaimer: Devil Wears Prada, the book and the movie are owned by their respective producers. I am making no money from this foray into femslash fanfiction.
A/N: Once again, I labeled the sections as chapters though they are very short.
A/N: Also once again, this hasn’t been beta’d, so all mistakes are mine alone.
A/N: There is a lot of backstory here that isn't included. I might be able to be persuaded to put that into writing.
A/N: This deals with bondage and discipline. I am not in the lifestyle so it is probably all bull*, but know that the characters don't view themselves as being in the lifestyle. It applies to certain aspects of their personal lives so that they have an area where they may relax.
Thankfully Irv was sitting or he may have fallen down. Roger Clarke, Chairman of the Board of Elias-Clarke, delivered a word of warning about the board.
The bane of his existence, Miranda Priestly, had over time, delivered suggestions for the other publications under the Elias-Clarke banner. Most of those suggestions had been ignored, but one or two had been forwarded. Her suggestions were about seventy percent good and it galled him. It had never occurred to him though, that Miranda would have blind carbon copied the Chairman her suggestions.
Now Roger wanted an explanation as to why good suggestions were ignored, and why he had such a hardon for Miranda.
"Roger, she is so condescending whenever we meet. Besides, she's reasonably good at fashion, though it is arguable whether she predicts trends or dictates them, but when is it guaranteed that her success there translates to skills in other areas?"
Roger chuckled and replied, "Since when does keeping an eye on emerging trends mean that you only notice one area?" He became more serious. "I'm just letting you know that I am not exactly happy with your efforts to poison the board against a successful employee. I'm asking you to let it alone."
Irv smiled politely and agreed to tone it down, but that would just mean he'd have to keep it from Clarke's sight.
Twenty-five years ago when Miranda had taken over the helm of Runway she'd insisted on one condition. That her budget was kept separate from the budgetary pool the magazines had traditionally shared. That action had killed their fishing magazine and resulted in their selling off their hunting magazine. Those two magazines had been the centerpieces of Irv's effort to revitalize company. He'd been successful with others but Miranda had, within two years turned Runway around and she'd always refused to truly defer to him as her superior.
Over the years he'd been moderately successful, but even his wife gushed about Miranda Priestly's success. He really wanted her out of his, admittedly thinning, hair.
