I can't quite figure out how to take them down, and I just keep building more...
The Truth of Fear - Margery Cords
Miranda stared at the divorce papers on the table in front of her. He hadn’t even given her any warning. He’d just faxed them to her and her lawyer had received a copy as well.
Miranda didn’t bother to call him to ask where this had come from. They weren’t working as a couple.
He was having affair and the girls had found out about it. On top of that he was a drunk. The girls…oh god, they would be so hurt by him leaving.
Another one. Another one she’d managed to drive away.
How pathetic was she going to get?! She should just give up.
The girls were old enough now and they still had Greg around when he wasn’t off with a new woman. That would have to do. But…the pain of yet another confirmation that she was unlovable hurt.
A single tear fell and her assistant chose that moment to walk into the room.
She noticed Miranda’s disheveled state and froze. Yes, that’s right, pretend. Pretend you can’t tell something is wrong with the ice queen. Just pretend you don’t see the tears. Another one who wanted to use her as a ladder. Predictable.
That was all Miranda was good to anyone for anyways.
