Fic: Special Place (Poke the Dragon Fic-A-Thon)

Andrea chuckled at the puzzled look of her lover, when the brunette offered a hand to the silver haired woman. “Miranda, I swear it’s stabile. It’s made of the best wood my grandpa could get. Really, don’t you trust me?”

Miranda raised an eyebrow. “I trust you and you know that, but the wood? Not s much…”

She was not sure what ever has brought Andrea to drive her out all this way up to Ohio to her home town and the house of her parents where she’d grown up to show her the old tree house she’d build in her childhood.

The fashion editor was slightly impressed the house was still there, considering all the storms that have been crashed over Ohio all seasons.

Andy smiled and knocked on the wood. “It’s good wood, Miranda. Come on, you’ll like it.”

Miranda snorted. “I can feel it’s wet and dirty, Andrea. It has just rained yesterday…”

“Hmmm… If we really get dirty, we can clean each other later, no? And I do think you’ll like that.” Andy smirked.

Miranda couldn’t help but blushed at the thought. “Well…. Yes….”

She could not believe the young woman has got her to do this, taking the small wooden steps carefully, because of her high heels.

Slowly Andy helped her into the tree house. “Be careful with your head. It’s not very large.”

Andy was right. It barely captured the two grown up women, but without any words the brunette sat down on the ground. She mentioned for her lover to do the same. Though Miranda hesitated (the wood of the walls felt still wet, she saw that her thighs were ruined already anyway. So with a sigh she sat down.

“Prada will never forgive me…” she mumbled.

Andy laid her head on Miranda’s shoulder. “Your fault. I told you to wear something casual.”

“Prada feels very much casual to me.” The older woman simply stated out, causing her lover to laugh softly.

“Yes, to you and only you.” She said, taking the scent of the perfume she loved so much on Miranda’s skin into her nose, revealing in it for a few moments.

“So, now why are we here?” the silver haired woman asked simply. She looked at her watch. “It’s getting dark, and I don’t know where there’s an acceptable hotel here.”

Andy grinned. “We’ll sleep here.”

Miranda froze. “What? Here? In this…. Thing? Andrea, have lost your mind???”

She had nearly stood up abruptly, if Andy has not gripped her hand and squeezed it gently.

“No, of course not here. In the house, I have the keys. My parents are on vacation in Europe. They wanted me to check about the house while they’re gone.”

“Then why did you take e here with you? I really don’t know what to do here, Andrea. The girls must be concerned, where I am and…”

“They know where you are. I’ve talked to them earlier this evening. It’s okay.”

For a while Miranda just stared into the deep brown eyes and they told her the brunette was honest. She sat down again.

“So, what are we doing here? In your old tree house?”

Andy smiled. “Oh, you’ll see, just a few minutes….” And snuggled deeper into Miranda’s side.

Miranda then followed the eyes of her lover and suddenly knew what Andy tried to show her. The sun begun to decent and the view was simply breath taking.

“Beautiful…” she couldn’t help but whisper.

“Yes, this was always my special place. I came here a lot, when I was a child. I was so proud of building this with my dad and my grandpa. God, if these walls could talk…”

The older woman didn’t say anything. She never had a close relationship to any of her parents, let alone her grandparents. She has told Andrea a few weeks ago about her past in England, when their relationship began to bloom.

The younger women noticed her silence. “I know what you’re thinking now. I’m sorry, I did not wanted to offend you. I just…. Wanted to show you something that was very important to me… because you are important to me. You, the girls and everything.”

“Yes…. I know… Thank you.” She said quietly. “How old were you, when you’ve built this?”

“I think I was nine or ten. When I was older, about fourteen, I didn’t go here upstairs anymore. But it was always nice to see it still being there, in our garden.”

She purred softly, when she felt a hand stroking through her long dark hair.

“Did you bring boys you liked here?”

Andy smiled. “Yeah… A few…”

“Did you… kissed them here?” The older woman didn’t even know why she’d asked that question.

“Hmmm… let me think… I guess once, but I’m not sure…” Andy replied.

“I see…” Miranda mumbled.

“Oh gosh, don’t tell me you’re jealous now. Miranda, I don’t even remember his name correctly. I was thirteen years old. And we certainly didn’t do anything more than that, I can guarantee you.” Andy said laughing, but Miranda’s cheeks turned pink.

“I am… not jealous. At least not of him….” She said.

Andy looked at her. “Of what are you jealous then?”

The silver haired woman took a deep breath. “Time.”

The brunette looked confused. “Time?”

Miranda has learned over the few months she got together with her former second assistant, how surprisingly easy it was to open herself to her lover, if only step by step.

“I was, I am and I always will be twenty-five years older than you, darling.” Her deep blue eyes were glowing with a little sadness. “You’ve changed me, since you got back in my life. I don’t regret it. Though it feels like I’ve missed so many events in your and my life without you. Time is going straight forward, not backward. Half of my life has already vanished.”

She felt so close to tears, it was stupid. Never in her life did Miranda thought the simple visiting of an old children’s tree house could make her think like that.

“Ssshhh, it’s okay. I’m here, Miranda and even time’s changing; I’ll always be there, just like this tree house.”

Suddenly Andrea had a nervous look on her face, swallowing hard and took a very deep breath.

“You know… I have another reason why I brought you here.. It’s kind of kitschy, I admit, but I have to do this…”

The older woman shivered, when the brunette took both of her hands in hers and looked deeply into her eyes.

“I… I love you. I have loved you for so long. Everything, our relationship is… wonderful. I feel home with you and the girls and finally my parents have accepted that I’ve chosen you by my heart. It’s nearly a year now, even more than the time at Runway, when I still worked for you…. I know I’ve left you in Paris once, but I’m glad I came back to you. It was the best decision of my life.” She squeezed her hands; with tears in her eyes and the voice was trembling when she continued to speak:

“I was never so sure, so confidant, to ask this question right here, right now:

Will you marry me?”

And everything was still now. The world stopped spinning. The woman, who was already married and proposed to three times before, has never heard these three words more beautiful said to her.

Everything in her screamed yes, dark thoughts long forgotten since the day this joyous young woman landed into her arms, making her happy, even smiling at work, teaching her how wonderful life could be, together with her and her precious daughters. She must have told them already and Miranda was sure they gave Andy the blessing. They love her as much as she loved them.

Instead of an answer, she just moved forward and captured the full lips of the brunette wit her own. How long the kiss was going on, neither of them knew, nor did they care.

When the kiss finally broke, she just breathed: “Yes, I will.”

Andy blushed. “Sorry, I’ve forgotten a ring and…. I was so nervous the whole day, that I…”

She was interrupted. “It’s okay. Your words, Andrea, are worthier than any ring in this world.”

It was kitschy, but it was also just wonderful and they kissed again, harder and deeper this time, soon both were moaning with passion. They leaned back and forgot the wood they’ve laid their heating bodies on was still wet, dirty and old wood…. until Andy heard the quite loud creak.

She broke the kiss, smiling widely. “I think we should get in the house, into the guest room.”

“Yes, we should go. Now.” The older woman agreed, giving the luscious lips one more kiss.

Andy laughed softly at the enthusiasm of the older woman to get out of this dark, cold, wet and dirty tree house into a warm and soft bed.

When they climbed down the tree again and walked with her hands clasped together, Andy slightly turned her head to take a last look at her old tree house and than in Miranda’s face, seeing her blue eyes already sparkling with desire.

Andy couldn’t help but grin deep inside her.

The tree house has survived many storms, but the brunette was sure it wouldn’t survive even a minute of Miranda’s real passions. Hopefully her old bedroom would.
