"Two Americans scuba diving in a sea cave and there was an underwater rock slide. A fisherman found one of them on the surface. A 55 year old female." Jay informed Andy.

"What about the other?" Andy asked.

"Her daughter. Seventeen years old. Coast guard are still searching for her. They want the doctors on the scene when they find her." Jay replied.

They soon arrived to a beautiful huge yacht, and Andy climbed up the rope ladder after Jay.

"Don't you dare touch me again."

Andy recoginized that voice instantly as she reached the top of the yacht, the voice she would never forget, and her eyes widened, before seeing none other than Miranda Priestly herself, trying to push away the two men that were fussing over her. Andy knew this wouldn't go down too well, and knew she needed to intervene, even though her heart was beating in panic.

"Hi guys, what's happening here?" Andy asked as she stopped in front of the older woman and two men, flashing her ID to show she was a doctor to the men when they turned to her, and she saw from the corner of her eye how Miranda's head whipped up to stare at her in obvious surprise at seeing her.

"Scraped arm, and a possible broken wrist." one of the guys informed her before they were thankful to be able to quickly walk away from Miranda.

"Andrea, what on earth are you doing here?" Miranda demanded to know. She didn't mean for her voice her hard, but in the situation she found herself in, frightened for her daughters life and there being nothing she could do to help her, doubled with the shock of seeing her former assistant and lover, as four years ago with Andrea flashed through her mind. She hadn't meant for her voice to be hard, but she couldn't help it from feeling frightened for her daughters life. She hated that there was nothing she could do to help her daughter.

Andy on the other hand was trying to get over her initial shock at seeing the older woman again, not having seen her since four years ago when they were lovers. She remembered when they met ago and how a relationship had come to happen.

Four Years Ago.

"Hi, Miranda." Andy said nervously, waving a stupid little wave, as the older woman stepped in front of her.

"Andrea." Miranda said, her voice only slightly cold.

"Um, so how have you been?" Andy asked, even knowing that Miranda detested small talk.

Miranda waved. "Fine. Was there something you wanted?" she asked, pinning Andy with an intense stare.
Andy nearly fell over backwards at the look she was recieving from the older woman, and swallowed, hard. "Well, I guess I just came by to apologise for Paris, and that I-" she got cut off by Miranda.

"Paris, I don't care about Paris. You did want you had to do for yourself. I've done the same thing. But if you insist on babbling about how sorry you are, you can at least take me to lunch where I can sit comfortably." Miranda replied, before gazing down at her finger nails with a bored expression.

She's invited herself to lunch, with me? Andy couldn't wrap her mind around it, she knew she would need to hurry up and answer before the older woman decided to take back what she said and walk away from her. She looked up at Miranda and Oh god she was staring at Andy with those intense blue eyes, and when their eyes connected, her heart began thundering in her chest. She nodded her head, and it seemed that was a good enough answer for the fashion queen.

"Good. Let's go." Miranda said, sounding a little impatient, before turning around and walking over to the black mercedes that had been waiting for her.

Andy smiled at Roy, before she slipped inside next to Miranda into the familiar town car, and she realised just how much she had missed being chauffeured around by a driver as she sat in the comfortable back seat, right next to the elegantly dressed Miranda Priestly.

Andy wouldn't say that first lunch had gone terribly bad because Miranda had informed her that they would have lunch again, and it continued to happen once every week, until it progressed to late night dinners at Miranda's townhouse and stolen moments in the back of her towncar, to a full blown love affair.

Two Months Into Their Relationship.

"Oh! Miranda, what are you doing here?" Andy asked, looking up as the elegantly dressed older woman casually strolled into her apartment. "I wasn't expecting you!"

"Mmm, it would seem so." Miranda replied, as she cast her eyes up and down Andrea's rumpled clothing.

"I would have sobered up if I knew you would be coming." Andy said, covering her mouth when she hicupped, "I just had some friends around, it's my birthday so we were celebrating."

Miranda frowned. "I didn't realise it was your birthday."

Andy waved her words away. "I wasn't wanting to do anything for it anyway, but they just came around unexpectedly so it's not like I could kick them out."

"Seems like you had a good time anyway." Miranda replied.

Andy nodded. "Mhm. Just got a bit tipsy, but stay! We can.. finish the rest of this wine," she held up the bottle from the coffee table, "And cuddle." she raised a questioning eyebrow at Miranda.

"I think you've had enough wine for one night." Miranda replied, as she took the bottle from Andrea and placed it in the kitchen. "However, sitting on the couch together would be acceptable."

Andy grinned. "Perfect." she said, and as she made her way over to the sofa, she tripped on the rug and fell half onto the sofa and half on the floor, beginning to laugh at herself.

"Definitely had enough to drink tonight." Miranda muttered, as she wandered over to the brunette who still lay falling off the couch. "Are you alright?"

Andy giggled. "Of course I am!" she replied, and sat up, but it was a little too quickly and her head began to spin. "Woah, maybe I have had a little too much to drink tonight."

"Are you feeling sick?" Miranda asked. "Do you need help to get to the bathroom?"

Andy shook her head, slowly, "No, I don't need to be sick or anything, I just felt a bit dizzy, but I'm fine now." Other than the fact that I'm horny just from looking at you. She thought, eyes glazing over, as she stared into Miranda's blue eys.

Miranda saw Andrea's eyes glaze over, and she knew instantly what it meant. It had been a little over a week since she had and Andrea had been intimate, and she felt the sudden desire to be with Andrea in such a way again. "Maybe you should lay down and close your eyes, rest for a bit?" she spoke softly.

Andy nodded. "I guess." she replied, before laying back on the sofa and closed her eyes. A few seconds later she began pulling her shirt up, trailing her hands over her stomach, smiling when she heard Miranda take a deep breath. She peeked through her eyes and saw that Miranda's eyes were glued to her hands every movements. She knew what they both wanted, so she arched her back and pulled off her jeans, before looking at Miranda through lidded eyes. "Please." she whispered.

Miranda moved, as if in a trance like state, her eyes never leaving Andrea's, while her left hand trailed down Andrea's stomach to rest between the young woman's thighs. She took in another breath when she felt just how wet Andrea was, coating her hand with her desire.
Andy could feel Miranda hesitate, like she did the other times they were together, so she arched up into the older womans hand, "Please." she begged, wanting like nothing to feel the older woman's slender fingers deep inside her, fucking her hard. Her mouth opened as Miranda plunged three fingers inside her wordlessly, and Miranda began moving them in slow rhythmitic movements, and it felt amazing, like it always did. Her eyes rolled back in her head as Miranda sped up her movements, and she began to clench deliciously around the older womans fingers. She moaned when Miranda's thumb flicked over her clit, before her fingers came out of her entrance as she began spreading her moisture, driving Andy wild, before those perfect fingers were plunging back inside of her, causing her to moan more loudly. Her hips were thrusting, meeting Miranda's strokes, and she forced her eyes to open, wanting to see how this was affecting the older woman.

Miranda's eyes were fixed on her task, not surprising Andrea one bit, and her mouth hung open slightly, tongue flicking out to moisten her thin lips, and the older woman's face was flushed a cute pink. She must have felt the weight of her gaze because those gorgeous blue eyes were moved to her, and the eye contact made her oncoming climax that much better. She held Miranda's eyes as she felt her climax approaching, and she gasped, saying Miranda's name over and over again.

Miranda slowed her hand and expertly kept Andrea on the edge.

"So good, Miranda." Andy gasped, "Don't stop." Even through her lust filled haze she knew Miranda must be nearly on edge herself, so she moved so that she was able to slide her hands into Miranda's suit pants and into the silk panties, finding Miranda wet, easily able to slip two, and then three fingers inside of her lover, causing Miranda to gasp in surprise, as she began pumping her fingers the same speed as Miranda was doing to her.

A soft moan escaped Miranda's lips as they moved together.

Andy began rubbing at Miranda's clit, causing Miranda to gasp, and she sped her fingers up, feeling Miranda clench around her fingers, caused her to climax, sending her right over the edge. She rode out the wave of pleasure, moaning, and still kept plunging her fingers into Miranda's arousal as she climaxed herself.

"Andrea," Miranda moaned, and as soon as she caught her breathe she tugged at Andrea's body and pulled her down onto the carpeted floor with her, laying together, the moment perfect between them.

Andy opened her eyes and stared into Miranda's glazed ones, and knew she always wanted to be with Miranda in this way, and more.

Back To Present Day.

"Sachs, we gotta get down there." Jay said.

Andy nodded at her friend, before turning back to Miranda. "I'll explain everything later."

Miranda nodded, remaining silent, as she watched Andrea, the woman she never expected to see again after not having heard anything from her in the last four years, begin to get into swimming clothes.

"She's trapped?" Andy asked, after having found out that they'd located her a few metres away from where they were on the boat. She made sure her voice was lowered, not wanting Miranda to hear, knowing the older woman was worried enough.

After getting into the scuba diving gear, Andy and her male teammate, along with professional rescue people, went down into the ocean.

When she saw Caroline, the young girls eyes met her own, and she saw recogniztion flash through Caroline's. She saw that Caroline was gripping onto a small white board which had the words "Help Me" written on it.

As she and the others tried to get the rock off the young girl, with no such luck, Caroline began writing on the white board. Andy hated what she read next.

"Hurts to breathe." Caroline had written, and Andy knew in that moment that something more serious was going on with Caroline, but checking the young girls oxygen tank she saw that she had enough oxygen for another three hours, so this only frightened her more.
Andy took the white board, and began writing. "Plenty of air." before showing Caroline.

Caroline began shaking her head, before lifting a hand up to her neck, a sign that she was beginning to struggle to breathe. Before she knew what was happening, the mouth peice of Caroline's oxygen tank was out of the girls mouth, and her head fell backwards. She grabbed the mouth peice and put it quickly back into Caroline's mouth, she herself being able to breathe when Caroline began breathing again.

Her fear wasn't gone for long though when she saw Jay holding up the white board, out of Caroline's sight. "Collapsed lung. Need to get her up ASAP."

After exchanging a few more words, and reassuring Caroline that she would be back, she went up to the boat again, ready to tell Miranda what they were about to do to get Caroline out of the water.

"I don't understand why they can't just lift the rock off her?" Andy once again heard Miranda's icy voice as she climbed up the rope ladder and onto the huge boat.

"They don't want to cause another rock to slide." The male with the fashion editor, replied.

"I'll tell her." Andy said, turning to her teammate, who nodded gratefully, before Andy walked over to the woman who still owned her heart.

"Andrea. What's happening?" Miranda asked, her voice a lot softer.

Andy sat down next to the older woman, and stared into her eyes.

"Hows my baby girl?" Miranda asked, eyes filled with worry.

"She's got a broken wrist, and her chest is filled with air which has caused her right lung to collapse. We need to get to the hospital right now." Andy said.

"So, as soon as they get the rock off she can get taken to hospital?" Miranda asked.

Andy looked down and took Miranda's hands with her own. "No. We don't have any time to wait for that to happen. Her oxygen levels are dropping. She won't make it that long."

"What are you telling me, Andrea?" Miranda asked.

"We need to amputate." Andy said.

"What? I'm not sure I heard you correctly." Miranda said.

"I'm sorry, Miranda, but we don't have a choice." Andy replied.

"Andrea, we both know there's always a choice." Miranda said. "I cannot let you cut off my daughters leg!"

Andy shook her head. "It's either her leg or her life. Are you really willing to risk her life to wait for the wrench to arrive when it might not even get here?"

Miranda closed her eyes, took a few deep breaths, before nodding. "Do what you need to get her out of there," she looked into Andrea's eyes. "How are you supposed to control the bleeding down there?" Miranda asked, just imagining how much blood there would be doing such a thing.

"We'll use clamps to control it." Andy explained.

"Will she feel anything?" MIranda asked, eyes closing, not wanting her daughter to be in any more pain than she was no doubt already in.

Andy squeezed Miranda's hand. "No. We'll block the nerve. She won't feel a thing."

"But she's going to be awake? She'll know what's happening?" Miranda asked.

Andy nodded. "Yes."

Miranda's eyes closed again, and she shook her head, she could not believe the situation she found herself in, but was so thankful that she had Andrea by her side.

"How about you write her a note?" Andy asked, holding out one of the small white boards for Miranda. "Let her know that you're thinking of her, and you'll be here when she gets up."

"Yes," Miranda said, nodding, before taking the white board in her shaking hands. She held the texter, but wasn't able to write anything because her hands were shaking that badly.

"Here, let me do it." Andy said, placing her hand over Miranda's right one.

Miranda shook her head. "No, I can do it, she needs to know that I wrote it."

"I'm here, and thinking of you sweetheart. Mummy loves you and I'll see you soon. xx" Miranda managed to write in her signature handwriting on the white board before handing it to Andy, tears trailing down her cheeks. "She's going to be alright, isn't she?" she breathed.

Andy nodded. "Of course she is."

"You're going to be down there with her.. when it's happening?" Miranda asked.

Andy nodded again. "Yes, I'll be there."

"Will you hold her hand for me?" Miranda asked, voice cracking.

Andy felt tears forming in her eyes, "Yes, of course."

Miranda nodded. "Thank you."

"Andy, you ready to do this?" Jay asked.

"Yeah, coming." Andy replied. She turned back to Miranda. "Are you going to be alright? Your not in any pain?" she asked, worried for the older womans health.

"I'm fine. Just look after my baby girl." Miranda replied. "And Andrea?"

Andy turned back around. "Yes?"

"I love you." Miranda said, her emotions getting the better of her.

Andy walked the small distance back over to Miranda, and planted her lips on Miranda's, kissing her softly and putting her own emotions into the kiss. "I love you too." she stood up, walked away and over to Jay who threw his oxygen tank down into the water.

"You ready?" He asked her.

Andy nodded, and watched as he turned to look over his shoulder.

"Be ready with an IV and pressure dressings when she surfaces. There's going to be a lot of blood loss." Jay said to the med student that was with them, before Andy and Jay jumped into the ocean.

~*~

Andy finished putting a tight belt around Caroline's lower thigh when she caught Caroline's eyes, and saw the fear in them, as the young girl shook her head. Andy's heart clenching, knowing that the young girl didn't want her leg cut off.

Jay took a knife and Andy grabbed onto Caroline's hand, who squeezed hers.

Andy watched Caroline close her eyes as Jay began cutting, just beneath her knee, before taking out a long peice of tough string, that he would use to saw off the leg.

Caroline saw and began shaking her head, moving her mouth and Andy could tell that she was saying no. She took the white board and showed it to Caroline, who stared at it, before taking it in her hands before bringing the board up to cover her eyes, not wanting to watch her leg being cut off.

~*~

Miranda watched as the male Doctor named Jay surfaced, holding her daughter, before Andy surfaced. She watched as her daughter was pulled up onto the boat, and saw the wound and no left leg on Caroline, and bile rise up her throat. "Oh my god." she managed to mutter, before she threw up at the sight.

As the med student began bandaging up the wound, Andy walked over to Miranda, placing a soft hand onto Miranda's hunched back, as the older woman faced the ocean. "Are you alright?" Andy asked, fears of coral poisioning coming to her mind as the reason of Miranda being sick, but was assured otherwise from the older woman.

"I'm afraid my stomach isn't strong, the sight caused me to throw up." Miranda replied.

Andy began rubbing soothing circles on the older womans back.

"Is she alright?" Miranda asked.

"If we get her to the hospital with no delays, she should be just fine." Andy replied. She wished like anything to be able to promise Miranda that Caroline would be alright, but she had learnt her lesson when she'd promised a patient's parents that their son was going to be perfectly well in no time, her first year as a doctor. She had been wrong, and to this day she still hated herself for saying that to the parents.
"You should really let me check you out further." Andy said, needing to know that there was nothing else wrong with Miranda besides the scrape on her arm and fractured wrist.

Miranda shook her head. "No. I'm perfectly fine. Caroline is the one needing to be looked after now."

"But Miranda, if you aren't feeling well, you have to tell me." Andy said, her voice firm.

A small smile made it's way on Miranda's face as she turned to face Andrea, seeing the concern in her warm brown eyes. "Andrea, I'm okay. I just need Caroline to be okay too, and I know you can help her."

Andy understood Miranda, but before she could reply they all heard an approaching Helicopter, one that Miranda's assistant would have called for, and soon Caroline was being put inside it, and Miranda sat next to her with Andy so they could be taken to the hospital as quickly as possible.

~*~

"Caroline, I'm going to buy you the best prosthetic leg money can buy. You won't even know the difference!" Miranda said to her daughter who was in agony from the amputation she'd just had done, and she watched as the doctors pushed Caroline on the gurney down the hall and into a room, being told by a nurse that she wasn't allowed to go any further.

~*~

Later.

"Alright Caroline, you've got a tube re-expanding your lung. It should be easier to breath now." Doctor Jay said. "Doctor Sachs is going to take care of finishing your leg now. That wasn't easy down there, you did good." he said, and with that he turned around. "All yours, Sachs."

"I freed up a flap of skin and I sealed it over the bone." Andy said, finishing up with what she was doing. "Did you want to look?"

"Why would I want to do that?" Caroline asked, staring up at the ceiling.

"I know this might sound weird, but I worked with a lot of amputee patients when I was in residency, and the theory is that the sooner you look at it, and accept it as normal, the better it is." Andy said.

"It's not normal, and it's never going to be, thanks to my mother organising this stupid trip in the first place that I didn't even want to go on." Caroline replied, her voice angry.

Just when Andy was finishing bandaging Caroline's wound, Miranda walked into the room.

"Andrea has told me that the surgery went well," Miranda said as she stood beside her daughters bed. "I've talked to someone I know at Walter Reed, and he's given me a list of specialists. I've already got Amanda calling them up now for the best one."

"I don't give a shit if you have the lists of names of specialists, I don't want to hear it. I'm stuck in the jungle with only one leg because I went on this stupid trip with you." Caroline replied. "Look at what you made happen because of it." she said, throwing the blanket off her. "I have a stump because of you."

Miranda had tears welling in her eyes, her heart was thundering in her chest from the harsh words her daughter spoke, and she tried speaking but nothing came out.

"I don't want to see your face. Get out of my room!" Caroline said loudly, not facing Miranda.

Andy touched Miranda gently on the shoulder, and guided the older woman from the hospital room, leaving Caroline to calm down.

~*~

"Your dressing's dry, that's good." Andy said, as she bandaged up Caroline again.

"What?" Caroline asked, headphones on her ears.

"Your dressing is dry." Andy repeated.

Caroline just shrugged in reply, before closing her eyes and continuing to listen to her music.

Andy walked over and pulled out one of the head phones. "You're wrong about your Mum."

"No, I'm not." Caroline replied, trying to grab the ear peice from Andy, but the brunette held it away from her.

"She's the Editor for one of the biggest fashion magazines, she can get all the clothes she wants and pretty much anything else she desires, because of her money. She uses the money she gets on you and Cassidy because thats her way to show how much she loves you." Andy said.

"Well, why doesn't she say it more often then?" Caroline asked.

"Sometimes you can't. Sometimes it's easier to buy a pair of heels, or book trips, or go off the grid and become a doctor in the middle of nowhere." Andy said.

Caroline frowned, watching the brunette.

"I haven't spoken to my parents in over a year, and I haven't spoken to Miranda in four years." Andy explained. "I've been down here in the middle of nowhere ever since four years ago, because I'm trying to prove something. I'm not even sure what it is that I'm trying to prove, but I know I'm trying to prove it to them. It's all for them." she continued. "So, maybe all that stuff, booking the trip maybe she's trying to prove something to you."

"Why can't you talk to your parents?" Caroline asked after a few moments of silence.

"Their a million miles away. Miranda's just down the hall, and I'll be talking to her shortly, but I think you should talk to her first because I know that what you said earlier to her, you didn't mean." Andy replied.
