Helen Mirren. Especially when it's a story with Miranda's background in England. I don't know if it's because she and Meryl BOTH register blood boiling on my HOT meter or the fact that she can and has played similar roles to Miranda.
As an American sister Glen Close. Same voice inflections and bitch factor.
Now for a brother it's always Sam Elliot, don't ask me why.
Fun qustion by the way.

I also always see Helen Mirren. Even without the whole Miranda look, Helen and Meryl still look related in real life. Sometimes I see Glenn Close, or Jennifer Saunders (I know, lol).

It depends if Miranda's sister is older or younger. If she's older, it's Helen Mirren, if she's younger than Miranda, it's either Glenn Close or Jennifer Saunder's based on the age difference.

I was thinking a while ago that it would be interesting if Meryl's character Mary Fisher from She-Devil was Miranda's twin sister. I usually have Miranda as being estranged from her family so I don't often include siblings or parents. I did start writing a sequel to the Slow Dancing/8 Simple Rules verse that includes some siblings and a mother. The mother is Meryl's older version of the character from Evening Lila but I don't really have a cast for the siblings (two sisters and a brother). I have them written as drab and sort of forlorn, kind of like Dickens characters.

This is a good question!

Interesting question. The second I read "Kate Mulgrew" I thought it was an excellent idea. :)

But then I think of myself as Andy and I wonder which one of them I would fall for... ;)

I couldn't agree more! And, that could make for an interesting story in itself - torn between Miranda and her sister!
