...at this moment, I was so excited!
I was dilated to a 6 and had just gotten my epidural! We were having a BABY! There was that excited buzz in the room with everyone talking and laughing. My parents were there, my sister-in-law Brihanna was there, Joy was there, Mike was there and of course...ME! Who could have known that within an hour the epidural would wear off and the "Nurse from Hell was not going to call for any bolluses and just felt that "pain is part of labor!" Aaaargh! That made for a VERY exciting and exhausting night!!
HOWEVER.....at 6:57 a.m., my beautiful baby girl came into this world weighing 6 lbs. 14 ozs. and was 19-1/2 inches long. She was and still is the most beautiful sight I have ever seen!
Now she is turning 7 years old and I can't imagine what life was like before her. It all seems so mundane and boring. I love playing and laughing with her, sharing stories, watching movies, seeing what we can make out of the big, fluffy clouds, singing along to 80s music together and just watching her grow up into such a beautiful soul. God did good when he gave her to us. What a true blessing she is.
So, happy birthday Renee Kathryne Alice Shanteler. "If we didn't have birthdays, you wouldn't be you. If you'd never been born, well then what would you do? If you'd never been born, well then what would you be? You might be a fish! Or a toad in a tree! ou might be a doorknob! Or three baked potatoes! You might be a bag full of hard green tomatoes! Or worse than all that...Why, you might be a WASN'T! A Wasn't has no fun at all. No, he doesn't. A Wasn't just isn't. He just isn't present. But you...You ARE YOU! And, now isn't that pleasant!"
"Today is your birthday! Today You are You!"
I love you, my pumpkin pie.
Love, Mommy xoxoxo
