Today was the ASCA Regional Scholars Bowl Tournament. With just Jonathan, Marissa, Carolyn, and me, we went 4-0, got first in our pool and qualified for the ASCA State Tournament April 7-8. Southside got second in our pool, and in the other pool Indian Springs won and Hoover got 2nd. We dominated in scoring with all our games over 300 points (and one 400 point game). Amusing moment: When the moderator read us the lead-in about "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte," I wrote down the answers to the bonuses as Seurat and pointilism without hearing the actual questions, which turned out to ask for the Seurat and pointilism. After the tournament we had lunch at this really good Italian place in Rainbow City. The lady who showed us to our table was really excited about the fact that we qualified for state and was really happy that we applied to out-of-state schools. They had candles stuck in bottles of Chianti with wax all over them. We wanted to try their Ice Cream potato dessert but ran out of time and room in our stomaches. Overall, it was a very enjoyable tournament.
College note: Got the Auburn Presidential Scholarship today, so more money for me. One week until MIT Decision!
