Passenger describes dramatic events on diverted flight
Everyone who is a regular reader of Bruce Schneier will immediately nod and say "Security Theater".
If this 59 old claustrophobic woman from Vermont goes to prison (which I doubt) for "mumbling incoherent phrases" "and making too many visits to the restroom" ..
then the US better starts building a whole lot more prisons!
I also have a suggestion for the "two men in plain clothes and flight attendants" who " raced up the aisle and tackled the woman, thrusting her onto the bathroom door, then to the ground, and putting her in handcuffs":
Next time you see an elderly woman in distress .. maybe go ask what the problem is, be friendly, ask her to come sit next to you and maybe even hold her hand!
Or is that not dramatic enough ... Sheesh!
As for the re-examining all people's carry-on luggage: How many more women had lotion and gelatin-like substances in their carry on stuff? Were they hauled off to the pokey too?
If we let this shit happen, if we get THIS irrationally frightened ... Bruce Schneier will be right .. then the terrorists HAVE won!
