OK, so I recently upgraded the LCD monitor on my old desktop machine to a samsung syncmaster 2343 bwm, because I like desktop real-estate and at a native 2048x1152 it has a good bit..
I installed it with vga on my machine first, that worked well at 2048x so I switched to the DVI cable supplied and no problem at all.. 2048 x 1152 via dvi from my nvidia gforce4 ti 4200.
I was rather happy.
just the other day I decided to upgrade my video card (just a little) since the fan on the card was bust (either very noisy or just not spinning)... so I got a nvidia gforce 6200 (went from 64 mb to 512mb) you would think that if the older card will support the native resolution that a new version should support and better it right? Well I spent hours installing drivers, researching other peoples troubles, and just fucking about with it. I HAVE GIVEN UP... the best I can do is native via VGA :(
WTF!
