So on one of my "worse days" (i.e. today) I find out that my Crohn's is hereditary. Apparently some "long lost cousin" type emailed my mother and my aunt and was telling them about herself and her family. She said that on that side of the family (distant yet the same side) there are like 4 others that have Crohns Disease. It's kind of ironic with all the first generation cousins I have that none of them have it except me. I mean I must have like 30 cousins...none of my aunts, uncles, or their kids have it. Just me.
It's kind of ironic (and shitty) how genetics work, but at the same time its comforting to know that I'm not the only one in the family that has it and there seems to be a connection at least. Lately I wish I didn't have it a lot, but that's just because it has been a hard day when in reality I have been doing good this "time" ("time" = the time between infusions). I am getting medicine on Oct. 10 and I just got my tests back and they are normal (this is the first time I've been tested since May) So hooray for that, no Venufer this time, no spending 10 hrs in the hospital. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday now just to be inspected and I will let her know about my bruising since my specialist doesn't seem too concerned.
Also on the happier side, everyone I know has been really sick lately, but I seem to be immune to it. Like everyone at work and Mark's whole family has a cold of some sort and I haven't caught it...I guess my immune system is pretty healthy, even if it is weakened (if that makes sense). I have been drinking a lot of juice lately and staying away from the sickies though (or at least trying to) & washing my hands a lot. Looking forward to yet another winter of chafed bleeding hands.
I am thinking about creating a new LJ name so that I can actually put links to it places b/c none of my friends ever know what's going on with me and its so difficult to do the whole "5 months in 5 minutes thing" ...this one has had some shittalking in it that I don't necessarily want people reading though...
