Me, to Gordon, after putting in the final load: I know it won't last long, but at least for tonight, there is no dirty laundry at all!
Literally two seconds after saying this:
Pippa: /horks all over her outfit, Gordon's pants, and the bed/
Me: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
So I did an extra load because DANG IT I WAS GOING TO HAVE EVERYTHING CLEAN IF IT KILLED ME.
I forgot that one shirt had a sticker on it and it went through the washer and the dryer and now it's got gummy stuff on it. Will that come off? What's the best way to do it? It's one of my favorite shirts. :(
She's still got her cold. It doesn't seem to have effected her mood much, but it's interfering with her sleep, I guess because of the congestion, plus she coughs herself awake sometimes. I take her in the bathroom when I take a shower and turn the fan off so she can inhale the steam, and that seems to help some. Sometimes she sounds like a little pig, snorting, when she's trying to breathe through her nose. So cute and yet so sad.
I talked to her nurse practitioner about it and as long as she's eating well and doesn't have a fever we can monitor her at home. I hope it gets better before Thanksgiving. (Canadian, that is, to all of the American readers who are going "...before the end of the November?" Canadian Thanksgiving is this Monday.)
If things go well we'll be having three Thanksgivings total: his parents, his cousins, and my parents (in November). Thanksgiving is my favorite major holiday, so this is great for me.

Had a rough time lately on Craigslist. I've been trying to sell my formula sample cans (something that is fairly common on Craigslist). I got an offer, but the person no-showed. I waited for twenty minutes and then the person never responded to my (polite, not at all angry) email asking what happened. And no more offers.
I just renewed the post, and if I don't get an offer soon, I'm just going to donate them to the food bank.
I tried to make an offer myself to someone selling a 80 count package of size 3 Pampers (we use disposables at night and when going out for long periods). The person said she wanted formula, so I offered her some of the sample cans I have--they're perfectly fine, and their expiration dates are for a long time. She said that since I got the cans for free they aren't worth anything and I should be willing to give her all the cans I have or include cash or something as well. (FTR, a sample can is a little more than half the size of a normal can, which costs about $25 on sale here, so these cans are definitely of value to someone who feeds formula.) She also claimed that she paid $37 for the diapers! That's utterly ridiculous. So I replied saying that it doesn't matter what she or I paid originally for the items, only what they are worth to other people, and I offered an additional can. She replied and said that someone else offered her $20 for the diapers so "it does matter how much you pay". Which, #1, reading comprehension fail, and #2, this week the 80-count Pampers are on sale at RCSS for $19.99, and RCSS will take a coupon (which is easy to get) to bring the price down to $18. No sane person would pay more on Craigslist than they can pay in a store, so, conclusion, she's a big liar and I'm glad it never progressed beyond emails.
I don't even like Pampers because the masking scent is so heavy. Today we bought the big box of Huggies Little Movers at RCSS, which I like much more.
According to the growth chart from the WHO, if Pip stays in her weight percentile category, or even if she moves up a category, she'll be in this size until she's over a year old. Interesting to think about, when she's gone from newborns all the way up to 3s in less than 5 months.

Tomorrow I'm going to do a sausage-stuffed kabocha! That should be fun. I love squash. I need to buy more squash now that it's chilly and baking things in the oven is a plus rather than a minus.
