!ATTENTION!
!!DON'T READ BELOW: IT'S JUST MY BORING 'CREATIVE WRITING'!!
I feel like writing a story based on my Grandma's memories! I always wanted to do something in her honor ^_^
Chapter 1: The Swimming Pool
Khiem had two choices: she could sit in the paddy field and think about why her father wouldn't let her go to school like her brothers, or she could go swimming with her friends. She let down her long raven-colored hair and strapped on a thin silk sash around the waist of her slacks. The slacks were light and loose enough to allow for maximum running when she needed to. She couldn't think of reasons she needed to run, except for when she just felt like running anywhere. Anywhere but home.
She walked out of the wooden house her grandfather had built and past the front yard where her mother was preparing fish for breakfast. Mrs. Tran's hands were busy pulling the flaky meat from the scales and bones of the day's catch. Khiem saw her friend Nang and hightailed it out of there before any could sniff her out. Nang said, "Hey." Khiem said, "It happened! My future has been decided by my father! No school for me!" They walked to the swimming pool with Nang trying to decide how to console Khiem.
Meanwhile, in 2012, Roy Tran was dealing with the unsightly weather in streets of New York City. He had a hundred problems, and a snitch was one of them.
"I'm standing in the middle of Times Square waiting for this guy to interview me for the position, Gina! I don't have time for this!"
"Just hear me out, Roy, I need a good grade in this class or else I'm going to repeat a whole semester of my life! Do something to help," Gina said.
"We just have to figure out who is behind the creepy notes on the professor's sign in sheet...it shouldn't be too hard," Roy replied. Although he was thinking, "It's going to be impossible to figure out who is behind the creepy notes on the professor's sign in sheet."
Trying not to laugh, Roy added, "Oh, I know! How about you start actually showing up to class instead of ditching me?"
