Here's the weirdness that is me:
I'm trying to write urban fantasy. What I just finished reading is The Summons by John Grisham. Somehow, in my head at least, there's a disconnect there.
Not my favorite Grisham novel, by the way, possibly because I just never really felt I connected to the main character. He just never...never really felt sympathetic, to me. I guess I'm used to Grisham's main characters being crusaders or looking to right some overwhelming wrong. Maybe I've reread A Time To Kill too many times.
While I'm complaining...I adored the story behind the Doctor Who animated adventure "The Infinite Quest", especially adored Anthony Head as the voice of the villain, Baltazhar. What I absolutely hated, though, was the animation. To me (and I'm no expert, but a classic animation traditionalist), it came off like computer animation and South Park merged. Overall the art was pretty, but the animation itself was jerky and a little annoying, honestly.
I'm at just over 20k this morning, with all intentions to head out to our local write-in this afternoon to try to kick in a few more words before calling it a day. Yeah, thinking about calling it a day when it's not even 10:30 sounds a little weird to me, too. But hey, it's a Sunday and I've been awake since 7:30.
My back's feeling a lot better, actually. Maybe for once the damn doctor knew what he was talking about. It still pulls a little, but it's nowhere near the sharp, mind-numbing pain it was before. Can acrually walk without being hunched over or groaning with every step. It's fantastic.
