So, I might've lied about not frogging my advent project again. I was liking the overall look of it but the more I went on, the less I was feeling it as a use for this yarn in particular.
I can't remember if I said what exactly I'd decided on doing. It's a net-style tank top, intended to be worn over a black tank top, and my plan was to use a different kind of net/lace stitch for each color. I got to the end of my red and was working on adding the orange but the stitch pattern I wanted just wasn't turning out right. I frogged the orange and was considering just the red piece and realized what was messing me up was that I shouldn't have added the FSC rows for the sleeves yet; I should've finished the last round of the stitch pattern in read and made the bottoms of the sleeve holes when adding the orange. So, I frogged the last round of red... and realized i didn't have enough to finish the stitch pattern for the whole round. Oops. I frogged the previous round so I could try again with a slightly tighter tension and, Idk, it just made me realize how much I really wasn't liking how the stitch was working up, despite liking the overall look from a distance.
For one thing, even though I saw several patterns that called for a 5 mm hook to be use with a sock yarn for tops like this and I do like the drape, it seemed stringier the longer I looked at it. Can't help that it's about half chain stitches. Also... Does anyone else here get kind precious about using nice materials? It's something I've been trying to get over but as I've been using this, there's been a whining voice in the back of my mind going, "Really? This is what you're using the fancy Pride yarn for?" And as much as I hate to give into that voice, I can't really deny that this pattern falls short of showing the yarn off to its best effect.
Just, Idk. I haven't committed to frogging it yet but I have set it aside and I'm gonna come back to it with what I hope are fresh eyes in the morning.
